She'll do 5 months. In the Federal system, you don't get good time credit unless you serve at least 12 months and 1 day (even with that, people still do about 85% of the sentence). I haven't read when she'll have to voluntarily surrender, but usually it takes about 90 days for a facility designation. In about a month or so, you can check out the Bureau of Prisons website (http://www.bop.gov) (go to inmate locator) and see her "in transit." Once she's designated, it will show where she will be serving and her projected release date.

That show's gunna be outrageous... Only if she does it from her house. She also got 5 months under "house arrest" for whatever that's worth.

"House arrest" is basically a curfew. People can still work, go to church, shop, etc., while on house arrest. In other words, it's not a 24-7 confinement; however, it could be in certain cases. Most people on home confinement are on electronic monitoring (ankle or wrist bracelets), they have a probation officer conduct walk-throughs of their home/work, random curfew checks, and have other modes of supervision placed on them. It's no picnic, but it's not prison, either.

I thnk she got off very easy. Look at the money that she made. 5 months in confinement, 5 months house arrest (can't be gone from the house for more than a 48 period from what I heard), and a fine. Just sounds like a slap on the hand to me. Why not make an example?

i have a question...she was fined 30k also. Did she make more then 30k with her insider trading? or with this fine did she basically give it all back?

I'd almost assume that with as "light" a sentence she received, the money had to be close to even.

The fine is separate from restitution, and she was fined the maximum amount allowable by the Federal Sentencing Guidelines (the range was $3,000 to $30,000). The fine serves as additional punishment, and is not related to any amount of profit she earned through her criminal activity. From what I've read, she reaped something like $50K in illegal profit (I'm not real sure on that amount, but it seems like it was somewhere in that ballpark). If she owes restitution, the $50K will be in addition to the $30K fine she has to pay, and she'll also have to pay $100 special assessments per count of conviction.
