Well a guy from Kilgore told me that yall wouldn't be nothing with out Peterson.

Pball
07-13-2004, 10:48 PM
Not sure what a guy from Kilgore knows about our team. The guy from Kilgore probably recalls the last time we played them, which was in the 2002 playoff game. We beat them at their home field and I believe AD did have a big game that night.

I also want to add that when a team has a player that has the talent that AD has, it will tend to make your team one-dimensional. Now that he is gone everyone seems to think that he was all we had. I assure you and the guy from Kilgore this is not true. Palestine is still loaded with a lot of talent and speed.

We have a very tough preseason lined up with (3) 4A teams and (2) 3A teams Carthage and Tatum. As the season unfolds we will all know how good our teams are.

Fortunately opinions have not won or lost a game yet.

Sure looks to me that Palestine High has the talent.
I believe Rusk last alot of lineman to graduation, but may reload with a pretty successful JV moving up...and return the outstanding Cody Glenn.
Crockett has some talent returning, but lost alot to graduation....and their JV got beat by several district teams last year I believe.
I have no idea what Diboll has returning.
Sounds like an injury will not hurt Palestine much if you'll are that deep in talent. I don't think there's any way you guys at Palestine don't make the playoffs.
I expect to see you'll meet Silsbee in the 1st Div. 1 round, and WOS in the 2nd.
WOSand Navasota in the 3rd round.

I'm not sold on Palestine...before Peterson they were a BAD 4A team....Peterson't junior year they made a good run....last year they made the playoffs but lost in Rd 1 to Hallsville....they beat Crockett in OT with Peterson....Palestine may very well make the playoffs...but Diboll, Rusk and Crockett is a tough loop..

Before Peterson these kids were in the 8th and 9th grade. Not sure what that has to do with anything. Peterson was good and he was responsible for a lot of the success we had. In saying that, this team won without him during their JV year in 4A going undefeated 9-0. We beat Crockett twice that year. Not trying to sell you, just trying to inform you.

Hutto plays Caldwell for homecoming. That is gonna be sad losing homecoming if hutto beats rockdale. I know how it feels tho, losing to manor last year for homecoming was pretty sad for me at hutto

I really see Navasota being the team to beat in D20. Last year, Bellville was the favorite, and left no doubt after dominating the undefeated Rattlers. This year, it's a little different. Bellville lost loads and loads of talent (more than they can restock in a year), and the district appears to be pretty open, but right now, I'm liking Navasota.

Always enjoy your predictions and rankings. I like your rankings better than any magazine or newspaper. keep up the good work.

just wondering everyone's thoughts on D23, Huffman's starting QB from last year moved to Barbers Hill and last year's star RB graduated but they should still be very tough, Liberty is coming off a 10-0 season with a lot of talent returning, Barbers Hill always contends, but I was jw what everyone has to say about Mattew328's picks of

1. Huffman
2. Liberty
3. Barbers Hill

A lot of us in Huffman were a little curious about the QB's decision to move to BH. With BH having a returning starter already, that might be a tough row to hoe. I do know the guy is an excellent defensive player. CB a a soph. It will be interesting to see how he fits in over there.
As far as the picks, You know we like them. They might be based on the size and quality of Huffmans Offensive line. We have four guy's over 300 lbs., Three more that are quality players.
One of these big guys being 6' 6" Matt Hart, with verbal commitment to U of Houston, and another, Adam Kellam that Art Briles seems to like what he see's in both.
Crew will be missed, No doubt, but I'm sure you guys playing will remember Cory Elliott, a fine RB that saw minimal time behind Crew, but made the most of his opportunity as a Jr.( 6.7 per carry average ). Just like the loss of Shows for BH, there are some guys waiting to step up.

I can't see BH in 3rd place. In the Last 5 years BH has racked up 4 district titles and came in second last year losing to liberty by a score of 7-15 in a hard fought battle. I might be wrong but BH has some good talent coming in this year, I say BH takes back the title.

That's nothing. For the past two years, WO-S was in a NINE team district in 4A....and that wasn't even the worst. The UIL put the TEN 4A Houston ISD teams in one district and I think they did the same for Dallas ISD!!

i see liberty and barbers hill at the top again....i keep thinking one year cleveland has to finish in third....but i dont think it'd be this year...i'd go w/
1. Liberty (they should stil lhave their great defense and they r returning a lot of key offense players)
2. Barbers Hill (they r gonna be tuff and only loose to liberty in district in a very close game that could actually go either way...but i had to pick someone to be first and someone to be second and im a liberty fan)
3. Huffman (i just got the feeling last year that they were living w/ that running back...they r gonna have a great offense line but who is gonna be QB and run the show...and even w/ Crew they lost to Liberty and Barbers Hill last year its hard for me to imagine their new back being as good or better than Crew)

I think the same thing Huffman will have a hard time replacing a 2000 yard back and new QB. BH and Liberty should fight it out week ten for district.

The answer to the QB question for Huffman is the one who split time running the show in the win over play-off Orangefield. A. McMullen, Strong kid with a good arm, (6'-1", 4.5) his speed will add a running threat that was not present last year. Also Jr C. Dubose who had success passing for JV team. For the backs, back up C. Elliott had success running against BH and Liberty on JV. Was moved up to varsity as a soph. and moved to WR on Crew's return. (Crew sat out Jr. year). Move-in George Foreman, Strong kid with good speed, (have not seen him play in pads but man what a pedigree, Yes, That Foremans son). Another good back J. Sweeney returns (like Crew sat out Jr year), with two Jrs. C. Morris and R. Howard (if he is back from ACL) should be plenty of depth at RB. Sometimes only one back is a curse even when it's Crew. (easy for teams to key). Probable all-state WR in Greer.
Flanked by some Jr's that showed good skills in 7-on-7.
Everyone knows about the front line. Should be an over-all better team than was fielded last year. Much more agile and versatile. We will see, but this team has the potential to go a little deeper into the play-offs. And won't a lot of folks be happy if we knock WOS out in the first round. Man! let's play some FOOTBALL!

Everybody take it easy on the little red bird. They had a really tough year last year losing to Buna and all and they are probably in for another. I dont know who they play in predistrict, but I know Kirbyville will hand them one loss, then once district starts. Good Luck, your going to need it.

Cat22
07-23-2004, 03:39 PM
Here is Bridge City's predistrict schedule.

Sept. 3 at Liberty 7:30
Sept. 10 Kirbyville 7:30
Sept. 17 at LCM 7:30
Sept. 24 Jasper 7:30
Oct. 1 Silsbee (HC) 7:30

They may be able to beat LCM and Silsbee, but it would not suprise me if they enter district play winless.
