How do I get rid of Lycos Search and Sidesearch? It will not let me remove it from the programs, nor will it let me delete the file folder. Please Help anyone:confused:

What operating system do you use and what type of internet connection do you have? Do you have AOL or something like that?

Windows XP, Road runner high speed. ( I hope that's what you are looking for.)

Here's a website that might help. remove (http://www.spysweeper.com/lycos-sidesearch-uninstall.html)
.
A strong note of caution! If you are unfamiliar with your system registry I wouldn't go into regedit. It's the fastest way to mess up your computer. If those lycos programs are spyware you might want to use the ones many of us here use. Spybot or Adaware. Both are great programs and free too.
Here is adaware adaware (http://www.lavasoft.de/) .
Download the free version.
Here is spybot spybot (http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10122137.html?part=104443&subj=dlpage&tag=button)
Spybot is donationware, you can donate or not. It's up to you. They haven't updated their spyware definitions for some time now so adaware might be best.
.
Download whichever and run the spyware utility and that should fix your problem. Good luck!

I had that problem too and I ran the Stinger program and Adaware, and it knocked it out. Just download what '66 mentioned and it should remove it. My computer did redigit, but it turned out just fine.
