Forney advances!!

I just saw something on the Dallas morning news site that showed the Title as 3A Forney advances to title game....and then something about Perryton scaring them when they scored 2 runs.......it then request that I sign up for a membership to read the article.....NO THANKS!!!

Can anyone confirm???

Forney advances to 3A title game

AUSTIN – Forney advanced to the Class 3A state baseball championship game for the third time in four years with a 5-2 win Wednesday over Perryton at Disch-Falk Field.

Senior Chance Corgan picked up his 12th win of the season, allowing five hits and striking out 13. He also went 2-for-3 with an RBI double, two stolen bases and a run scored.

Perryton (31-8) frightened Forney (31-5) by scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Catcher Reece Creswell hit an RBI triple and scored on a balk to trim Forney's lead to one. Forney responded by scoring twice in the top of the seventh.

Forney, which is in the state tournament for the fifth time in six seasons, will play the winner of the La Grange-Llano game for the title at 9 a.m. Saturday at Round Rock's Dell Diamond.

Congrats to Forney on their win and yet another trip to the "big game". Also, congrats to Perryton on a fine season!!

According to the UIL web site the Llano/La Grange game should get under way at approx. 2:10 p.m. Good Luck to both teams!!

sucks cause Bailey will shut them down. also sucks cause this will be La Grange's 3rd time to beat Forney in a State Final. (Football-2001) (Baseball 2000? and 2004)

Jason is right...don't count those eggs yet (no pun intended)...LG may be a favorite pick for many...but, things happen...just remember football....

I along with many others say LG has the advantage...GOOD LUCK Leps!!!! ill say they have the advantage too...they are starting a pitcher that got drafted in the 1st round and has already won a state title as a FRESHMAN...forney might have some more overall experience, but a dominating pitcher can do wonders or be a teams worse nightmare....GO FORNEY, ill be there cheering em on...

He pitched against LG in 2001 in the final when Homer closed for Sulick for the win 4-3.

he (Segovia) came in in relief though didnt he. I think he just pitched the last inning or two.

segovia pitched in the semi's that year....just like he did his senior year when he pitched 10 innings against lorena...

yeah...segovia has never started in the state finals. He came in in relief the last time they played lagrange.


Zachs 4 years:

Fresh: couldnt play...was ruled ineligible by UIL Forney lost to West in the Semi's

Soph: Forney lost to China Spring in the Semi's but I can't remember if he pitched or not

Junior: Zach pitched in semi's (beat Elgin) came on in relief in finals against LaGrange where forney lost 4-3

Senior: Zach pitched in the semi's(Beat Lorena in 10 innings)

No offense to any of you Forney guys or Zach, but he was not the prospect that Homer is. Don't fool yourselves, if Forney wins, it would be a major upset with Homer pitching.

I'll be pulling for Forney. Region II has 3 state champions so far this year. Hopefully Forney can make it 4. However if Forney loses, they can go back to their rallying cry, WE ARE THE 2ND BEST TEAM IN 3A. j/k;)

i would have to agree that Zach isnt the prospect that Bailey is. Thats probably why Bailey went number 7 overall and Zach went 50 something. I think its pretty obvious.

zach was picked 58th....curtis thigpen, his teammate who went on to play at UT, was selected 57th this last week
