Not just by super defense but also relative superiority to the rest of the league in their given years. For instance when the Cowboys won their SB's they had SF, GB, etc. to worry about. No viable threat for the '85 Bears or "Bad Boys" during their repeat. I'll finish with a paraphrased quote by then Detroit coach Chuck Daly when asked what he considered a good game by his team. "When we win 83-78!"
