That is pretty good for a High School Player that still has one year of high school eligibility left.

Here are the eligibility rules according to the Houston Chronicle:

"High school players who have graduated and have yet to attend a college or junior college; players from four-year colleges who have either completed their junior or senior years or are at least 21 years old; junior college players; Anyone who is 21 within 45 days of the draft."

Homer graduated May 25 with the rest of the senior class this year.

Yes , it is really an amazing thing. We here in La Grange watched him and the rest of these fine athletes grow up playing little league and Optimist Club little dribbler BB all the way to this incredible year in 3a baseball. It will be fun to follow Homer's career. Good luck to Homer and the Leps.

My apologies. I thought he was going to be a senior in 2004-05 and had one more year of hs left.

That video was from the La Grange tournament this year. He had 17 strike-outs in a 2-0 victory over Bellville.

didn't he play 1st base against Rockdale in that tourney?

they said on The Ticket in Dallas that many baseball experts said that Homer is the high school pitcher that is closest to being ready for the major leagues. They also rated his fastball and curveball the best in the nation. And said his slider wasnt far off.

as for money...he will prally get about a 2 to 2.2 million dollar deal. Wish I had received that at 18!!!

Nice to see a young Texan excell and be rewarded. Lets hope he stays level headed with down home good sense, stays away from dangerous big boy toys, and avoids injury. We need another Nolan Ryan!

I read somewhere that he has been clocked on a few occasions at better than 95 mph! Is that true. Come on you Bailey fans, tell us about your boy!

Old Tiger

I heard the clocked him at Columbus or wherever at 99

La Grange

Sitting next to a radar gun I have personally seen him at 97. He didn't pitch agianst Columbus, Stetson Hrbacek did, so clocking him at 99 might have happened somewhere else, but not in Clolumbus. With alittle more development he probably can get higher, but still that is a lot of heat for anyone.

He got a 2 million dollar signing bonus, that is one nice graduation present if you ask me :D .

I hope he remembers I wasn't too rough on him in 5th grade.;)

I wish I still had that love note that he wrote and I found in class...:D

At Weimer I saw the guns at 93 - 96 all night long. I am sure Lance could tell you exactly how hot his pitches are.

Good luck Homer!

I read an article on the internet somewhere...and the guy that was quoted pretty much said just that.
