well im sittin at home bored so i looked up Rockdale and this is what they say "There are many accounts of how Rockdale got it's name but the most commonly accepted one is that a Mrs. B.F. Ackerman, traveling by horseback via an old wagon trail saw a rock formation looking down over a dale some two miles north of present-day Rockdale. She climbed up the rock formation to get a look at the end of the railroad line and there coined the term, Rockdale!!"

Once upon a time I was in Crockett and a similar convesation got started. A man in a convenience store said Crockett got its name because Davy Crockett pp'd on a stump there on his way to the Alamo.

this is what i found
"The town was named after Davy Crockett who reportedly had camped nearby on his way to the Alamo. The site was very near the Old San Antonio Road. A family of Tennesseans donated the land for the town and named it after Crockett, who they had known back in Tennessee."

This town was named in 1912 after a violent confrontation over a church steeple and church. a boy yelled out"I am scared! I am going to “cut’’ around the corner and “shoot” through the bushes in a minute!” Those who heard him remembered his words and adopted Cut and Shoot as the town’s name.
