Wharton beats Caldwell 4-1 in 8 innings in Austin. This should dispell the talk that the state championship was decided at the region 3 championship game last week. We were told that the rankings, records and tough schedules all pointed to a region 3 championship again this year. EVERYONE throughout the state plays tough, and the champion this year will be someone other than region 3. Go Lady Tigers, you are 21 outs from the state championship, the only poll that really matters.
The Caldwell team is a classy team that played their hearts out, scoring a run in the bottom of the 7th to send the game into extra innings. I see that your pitcher is a Jr. and I'm sure that only good things are in your future.
Tomorrow's semi-final matchup should be another good'un. We are looking forward to meeting the winner on Saturday.
