Well it's Official... Vinny Testaverde is a cowboy!!

But while initial reports indicated Testaverde would be joining the Cowboys as a backup to Quincy Carter, it appears the 40-year-old quarterback has every intention of competing for the starting job.

And according to owner and general manager Jerry Jones, that is the Cowboys' plan as well. -dallascowboys.com

Now its getting interesting, i rather the qb win the job than what Bill had planned... starting Quincy without competition. They now have 5 qb, they'd probably keep 3 and sent the 4th to the practice squad and cut one.

"Testaverde also said he is excited about the Cowboys' three-day mini-camp, which begins Saturday at Valley Ranch, involving the veterans and selected rookies. The Cowboys will also conduct on-field practice sessions from Tuesday to Friday of the following week."

Too bad the training camp isn't in SA anymore :(

What I don't understand is that Quincy was the 5th best rated passer in the league last year. All of this without a running game and a subpar offensive line. Hasn't he earned his job yet. I sure as heck don't want a 40 YR OLD leading the team.

And goodness knows that the Cowboys weren't in the red zone that often.:(

As far as the 2003 postseason rating he was 2nd from the last :(

Passer Rating
Player Team TDs Ints Rating
Peyton Manning IND 9 4 106.4
Jake Delhomme CAR 6 1 106.1
Brett Favre GB 3 1 94.2
Trent Green KC 1 0 92.6
Tom Brady NE 5 2 84.5
Jake Plummer DEN 1 2 74.4
Steve McNair TEN 2 4 67.5
Matt Hasselbeck SEA 0 1 67.4
Donovan McNabb PHI 2 3 58.6
Anthony Wright BAL 1 2 57.7
Quincy Carter DAL 0 1 56.9
Marc Bulger STL 0 3 53.9

The Cowboys #1 defense is what won most of their games.
The boys hadn't been shutout since 2000, but in the 2003 season led by Quincy, the Cowboys got shutout 3 times  In 6 out of their 16 games they scored only 13 or less points.

Im sure glad that the cowboys went to get a first rate QB. Carter is just not it.
