Track season is almost apon us an there is a feew questions i wanna ask you guys if you might know them of course. My bro throws Discus an shot an hes hitting close to 170 feet is there anyone else in 3a who can throw the disk or shot pretty far? Last year at the district meet my bro thought he had 1st place for sure. Then this kid shows up from jasper never thrown a disk in his life he gets up there an throws it 162 on his 3rd try. He was one of those all-state american kids from jasper.

your best bet to find this info is to look up the Texas state meet from last year and see who of the top 8 were not seniors and see what they threw...cause the returnees are most likely going to be the best in the state this year. Either way...170 puts him in pretty good contention. Only 4 people went over 170 in class 3A state competition last year. www.dyestat.com (http://www.dyestat.com) is the best prep track site out there, but www.texastrack.com (http://www.texastrack.com) is good for only Texas stuff.

hey dibol....
If your brother didnt win, than he got second right? I remember throwing against a diboll kid last year at the regional meet. He must have improved alot because i advanced with a throw of 164 and their was only one other guy with a 160 throw. Most of us at state graduated. Me(josh) Cedric(yoakum) kevin(midland)Ric(raymondville)Garza(rockdale)
Maybe that will answer your question.

He had been throwing all year just didnt go to alot of meets.

I've been around discus for quite a while, and him throwing 170 feet is quite an accomplishment. Last year we had a guy who threw 165 and went to state.

Yeah it is but its hard to keep it a steady 170 ya know once you get to throwing that far everything "teqnique foot work an balance" has to be near perfect if you want to advance past 150. I still dont know how anyone threw past 200 :(! oh boy from splendora was amazing he had a little crowd out in the 250 range just waiting for the disk to land lol.

I think quickness and technique are the two most important things you have to learn. My coach always tells me if I could develop the technique, then I could throw around 160, but I juggle to many events to get to throw every day. Maybe someday I'll get the time to learn.

He didn't get 2nd at regionals if your talking about Jorrie Adams he was not there. The only 2 athletes from Jasper in the throws was Cook and Bryant. Bryant won regionals and then went on to win state in the shot put. He did not place in top two in discus.

Okay, then Cook went in his place based on a third place finish at district? I guess that is what I was trying to remember, that he probably COULD have made it to state. Thanks for the correction. :(

And maybe Cook will make it to state this year? :)

Joey Adams went to state in shot put. The other guy who was supposed to go to regionals in shot didnt show just like he didnt show in discus.

You can trust me I was there watching both events. You can also go to texastrack.com and look at results from all the meets last year.
