Most people that I talked to thought that this would happen. Do you know if they retained coach Flowers' son as the OC?

He gets to start his own program, BE THE AD. His new school will be a good one in the future with his leadership

No suprises with Mullins. I personally think it was a good choice. Merkel's defense has really been the heart and soul of the team for the last two or three years. Mullins is a good coach and teacher.

Sorry Wildstang, for not letting you know about the Mullins move. I knew earlier in the week, but have been working later hours lately and haven't had a chance to post. I will see if I can find out about Flowers son. I haven't heard.

VWG...Flowers has been selected to be head coach at a new school up in the panhandle. He gets to start fresh. The school will likely be a 2a school...at least early on. It will be a few years before they begin playing varsity. I don't know all of the details yet but it sounded like a great opportunity for him.

I have heard Flowers parents are up in the Amarillo area as well. He has coached a lot of teams in that area. I believe he was at Sunray before Merkel. Bushland will have all brand new facilities including field turf.

It's interesting to see a "new school" being opened up in West Texas. With most enrollments dropping, to see a start up is surprising.

I agree VWG. Not too many schools growing out West/Panhandle. I figure this school will be similar to places like Wofforth Frenship and Abilene Wylie.
