i dont think so...why should they lower them...we are just going to keep paying the high prices because we have to...i dont trust our government 100%...sadly...but i dont. As long as we keep paying the prices will continue to rise or at least level out...i dont think they will go down very much

The only effect the government has on gas prices are the taxes imposed. The reason(s) gas prices are so inflated is the few refineries we have in the US right now (none built since 1976), labor strikes in Venezuela, and (mainly) OPEC hoarding the oil supply. I have heard that OPEC has the power to flood the market with millions more barrels of oil per day in a matter of hours, yet they are choosing to drive up the price (and hurt many economies, not just ours). I have also heard Saudia Arabia is going to put forth an effort to get more oil into the supply in June(?) when the OPEC nations meet. But, it would have to clear a vote of the member countries.

We have got a lot of e-mail lately to "boycot" the gas pumps on may the 19th don't know if it would do any good or not. The prices are higher than a rocket to mars. I'm willing to try if it would help get a message across. Somebody do a post on this subject and see what everybody thinks (i don't know how to do a new post lol)
