I just found out today that my little rinky dink cable company is going to offer high speed internet in the very near future.

No more slow downloads...no more waiting forever for pages to load......I am SO happy!!

Bye Bye AOL and good riddance......(I hope I can afford high speed internet!!!)

The cool part about it is that if you get broadband through your cable company. You can get your TV, Internet, And Telephone, all on the same fiber optic line. And your phone bill will be 20 bucks a month for unlimited long distance in the US and Canada. I love my new broadband phone. I had about a gazillion long distance minutes last month and my phone bill was 20 bucks.:D The same calling 2 months ago would have cost me over 100 bucks with Verizon. Not to mention the 39 bucks for basic service to boot. Broadband telephone is the next big thing. If you want to know more PM me.

That's cool, Ranger Mom. My husband "accidentally" signed up for high speed a few days ago. (Don't ask...) This is the first chance I've had to try it out. It's so much faster than dial-up. As soon as I can get it set up for work, I'm cancelling the data phone line. I can just imagine how much better it is going to be to do pbp updates for games that are online

I'm on dial up at home but I have a T1 at work. I'm just can't justify 50 bucks a month for high speed internet.

Could you justify 50 bucks a month for highspeed if your entire phone bill dropped to 20 bucks?

I have DSL at work and have become so spoiled to it!! I can hardly stand to come home and get on this thing!!

It's fine right now...but when football season is in full force, it just doesn't move fast enough between threads for me!!

Well if you consider that you can get satellite for about 50 bucks a month, but then get broadband telephone (including long distance) for 20 bucks, then you have both for 70 bucks which is less than most folks pay for dial-up and telephone.

Just as an FYI, were you aware that Time Warner's Road Runner service is close to 1x faster than a full T1? I get 3.000 Megabits bandwidth, T1 is only 1.544. Sans Couth is right though, you pay about $20/mo for your secondary telephone line (if you have one) and another $20/mo for your internet access. That's $40, for another $5 or $10, you get high speed. I'll never go back to dialup.

I love my roadrunner!! The price I was paying for a separate phone line and dialup service paid for the road runner.

The only DSL I can get in my area is Southwestern Bell. I can't stand Southwestern Bell as a phone company, so I don't want anything to do with their DSL service.

Upfront purchase plan - Equipment cost 599.98, Activation fee 0.00, Per month 59.99

Promotional plan - Equipment cost 0.00, Activatin fee 99.99, per month fee 99.99

You can either pay up front or pay it monthly. It's still waaaaaaayy too much money.

Have no fear. Affordable high speed internet access is just around the corner. I remember a time not long ago, when the same habits that I enjoy today with my cell phone would have cost me about 3 grand a month. Heck, I even remember financing my first VCR at the tune of around 500 1984 dollars. And today, I can get one that is a thousand times better for 60 bucks. It won't be long before we are all doing 120 mph on the information highway.

As much time as he spends on here, and not out getting in trouble, I would say it is money well spent. Now if they could just get him to spend that much time in the weight room, they might let him in the Forney Sports High School:D
