Burnet has announced that 7 on 7 teams will be formed for 6th, 7th and 8th graders this year. Is anyone else doing this? I guess they hope to form enough teams to play each other.

Ive got one in 6th grade now that can throw it pretty good, the kids have been competeing in Flag and Pewee football since about the 3rd or 4th grade, and some of them are pretty good. I suspect that the 6th grade is being included because Jackson Shipley will be in the 6th grade next year. I believe he was held back a year, but even at this age you can see his talent.

That would be interesting to see school sponsored teams on 7 on 7 competition. When is this being done, during the summer?

In the summer La Grange always lets the incomming freshman play on the 7 on 7 team, but we have never had a 7th grade team and for sure not a 6th grade team.

If you thought Little League was bad I bet going to a 6th grade 7 on 7 game would rank up there :D .

You sure that the 6th and 7th graders form Burnet just wont be playing each other in 7 on 7 games?

I just found out that the City of Burnet is putting this together, not the school, and it is for incoming 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Tryouts are May 17th and games start June 2nd. There will be enough teams formed to compete with each other. Should be interesting, get them started early and give them something to do for part of the summer. I was just curious if any other towns had ever done this.

La Grange I'm with you on the Little League thing, we're in one of the worst "Daddy Ball"years we have ever had. Hopefully this 7 on 7 won't turn into this. Ive usually had my fill of it by the time Little League season is over. It makes you sick to see some of these kids get the key positions, not because theve earned it, but because their dads coached so that they could put their kids in those positions ahead of other kids that are sometimes more talented. Thank goodness not all of the coaches are like that, but there are always those that are. This is one of the things that I hate the most about the younger kids sports.
