Check it Out (http://scout.theinsiders.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=2&cid=258555&nid=1169320&fhn=1)

I think it is safe to say, that this kid is for real. Look at the offers he holds already.

RECRUITING: Gainesville RB has two favorites
By James Hale
Date: May 11, 2004

Gainesville, Texas RB Terrius Purvey has an offer from OU, but are the Sooners in his top two?

TERRIUS PURVEY, RB, 6’0, 185, 4.45, GAINESVILLE, TEXAS:

There are many college coaches that will tell you that Terrius Purvey is the very best running back in Texas. When a player is good enough to get into that debate then you know that he is very talented. Purvey broke into the starting lineup last year and exploded on the Texas prep scene rushing for 2,054 and 32 touchdowns.

“I love running the football. When I get the ball in my hands it is like I can see the football field very clearly and the game just slows down for me,” said Purvey. “I feel like I have great moves and I love to make people miss.

"I am a better inside runner and I love to get into the hole and make a move on the linebacker, and I might as well do that in the middle of the field. At some point any great running back is going to have to go through a linebacker, so you might as well do that inside.”

Purvey can bench 245 pounds, squats 400 and he has posted a 35-inch vertical jump Texas A&M Nike camp. Purvey did not attend any camps last year, but plans to attend the SMU camp this summer.

Purvey has been offered by Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Kansas thus far.

“I like what is going on in recruiting right now,” said Purvey. “A number of great coaches have been coming to our practices the last couple of weeks and a lot is going on in recruiting right now. Right now I like Oklahoma a lot and I have always liked Oklahoma. I also like Texas A&M. Those two schools are my top two schools right now.”

Purvey is going to play AAU basketball this summer and that will limit some of the camps he can go to.

Chris Smith RB from Navasota was at that same nike camp and he left there rated #1 and he too is one of the top backs in the state.

I don't know him, but I will take your word for it. Does he have any offers yet?

I also think Purvey is a terrific running back. How fast is he? I noticed he didn't run track for Gainesville this spring. I also thought it was interesting that he's playing AAU basketball this summer, but didn't play for Gainesville last season. Is he expected to play high school basketball next year?

I have seen the kid run. He is fast. He probably does not run track in Gainesville, because there are probably 10 kids there that are just a little bit faster. But Purvey can run with the football, and make folks miss. Anyone who has tried to tackle him will tell you that. I look for him to be at least a 4 star National prospect by October, maybe even 5.

Just ask Burnet how good they think he is! He left some Bulldogs grabbing for thin air and lowered the boom on others.

Why would he be considering OU? He would be fighting Adrian Peterson for the RB position. That may bode well for A&M. I'm kinda surprised that Texas hasn't given him an offer.

Sorry Venomous tat, Chris Smith was not the #1 RB at the Nike Camp. That honor would go to Mr. Purvey. Smith may be a top 10-15 back in the state, but not near #1. He'll be more of a fullback in college.

Purvey will probably like texas more after they offer, but he knows they also have a great RB in Vince Young.

With Vince Young, Texas could develop one heck of an option. Plus we're gonna need somebody to replace Cedric.

I don't think Purvey attended the NIKE camp last week. It looks like Smith had a good showing though, with the little bit of info I could dig up. I am sure he we do well.

I hope Purvey plays in Texas, I would love to watch him play in person. He is a star quality running back that improves each and every year! Texas Tech would be a good choice in my opinion.
