Just reading the header on your topic, my first thought was also of Staubach.

My favorite all time athlete in any sport, was that guy who used to hang off of the back of the pickup truck on Wide World of Sports and when the truck got going real fast down the straight a way, he would ease down and slide on his ass down the main stretch for about half a mile doing over 100mph on his backside.

That friends, was pure quality entertainment.:p

Troy Aikman, he was a great QB and you never hd to worry about him embarrasing the Cowboys' orginization! Such a classy guy, I will always be glad he was a Cowboy. (not to mention the 3 rings):)

Staubach because he spoke at my football banquet in 1972 and he was (is) a great person.

But the BEST athlete that I ever saw was Bo Jackson. I watched him play in Kansas City several times and he was just amazing. And the time that he knocked Brian Bosworth into the next year may have been one of the greatest licks delevered by a running back ever.

I like Staubach as much for what he did off the field as on. He served his country first, then took the Dallas Cowboys to their greatest level. Of course he had a little help from Tom Landry and
an excellant bunch of team mates. You can tell we are primarily football fans on this board because we seem to pick football players.

Baseball...... Kirk Gibson, played with heart, hustle, and attitude.

Football.... several... as a kid I loved watching Jack Youngblood,
Jack Lambert, Robert Newhouse, Tony "The Thrill" Hill, all the Cowboys of that era.

My favorite is Earl "the Pearl" Campbell.
Not only could he play. He is a great person, and makes great sausage. No Sunday Barbeque is complete without it.

I thought Catwoman was hot too, but I think Batman has us beat Phil. There is always Wonder Woman.

All of those "Golden Era" cowboys that have been mentioned along with Aikman. Historically, the one player that I have always been drawn to because of his courage, integrity, dependability and humble attitude was Lou Gehrig. He seemed to embody everything that was good and right in athletics and the way he handled his battle with ALS was truly courageous. I always get teary-eyed when I hear his final speech about being the luckiest man in the world.

David Robinson is my favorite. He personifies every good quality known to man. Much of the money he has made went directly back into the San Antonio community. A great player and an even greater person.http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0304/cool/cool-smiley-015.gif
