The latest Poll of 5-3-04 is as follows:
#1 Tomball, Texas HS with a 28-1 record-- Region III team(21 game winning streak)
#6 The Woodlands, Texas HS with a 27-2 record--Region III team
#13 Moody(Corpus Christi), Texas HS with a 29-1 record--Region IV team
#16 16 Lamar(Houston area), Texas HS with a 27-1 record--Region III team
**Bellaire, Texas HS was #14 in the previous weeks poll but lost a game and were dropped out...they now have a record of 20-3 in Region III
Across the Sabine River, Destrehan Louisiana HS is in the #6 spot with a 26-1 I would imagine that PN-G, West Brook, Bridge City and Little Cypress-Mauriceville would love to get to scrimmage that Destrehan team. There is some great preseason and warmup competition shared across the Sabine in both softball and baseball sometimes....I am surprised that more TX teams did not make that national Coaches Poll.
I keep waiting for PN-G to break into the National Poll. With their 6-2 win over Lufkin that pushed the winning streak to 25 games, improving their record to 27-2. They have won since 2002 all District ballgames. They will play a good 5A District Champion , LaPorte HS, Friday warm up- at 6 pm, in La Porte.
