Mean Machine:

Graham (District 5) wrapped up our district and should be your biggest competition. Some notables from our meet:

400 Meters, Roland 51.31 (Iowa Park), McKeaver 51.75 (Vernon)
Discus, Schmidt 154-5 (Graham)
High Jump, Parr 6-1 (Childress)
Long Jump, Milam 21-5 1/2 (Graham)
110's, Keys 15.32 (Childress)
3200 Meters, Recco 10.25.62 (Iowa Park), Dunn 10.26.08 (Bowie)
1600 Meters, Dunn 4.47.29 (Bowie)
4x100, Graham 42.99; Vernon 44.40
4x200, Graham 1.32.16; Vernon 1.32.90 ***Graham ran without one of their normal legs here and from what I have heard he will be back for the regional meet. So that should make a huge difference in their time.
300 meter Hurdles, Pinkston 40.10 (Graham); Gonzales 40.28 (Vernon).

800 Meters, Chavez 1.59.36 (Vernon)
1600 Relay, Iowa Park and Vernon both ran identical times 3:27.99

Looking at these times, it should be a race for the region!

Not sure who threw the medal in the trash. It was a Snyder kid.
Actions speak louder than words or pictures.
Where did the Snyder 1600 m Relay team finish during that race?

Well Im not sure where Snyders 4x400 meter team finished. I am sure the The Tiger WON THE DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP!. NOT SWEETWATER:D Id say thats an action that speaks louder than words. You still may see exactly how fast Snyder can run a 4x400 before the regional track meet. heck they are sending 11 events to regionals.. thats good.

Boy...this district (actually not 3-3a but the one that has been formed for next year) is going to be fun to watch during football season. It will be fun to sit back and watch the fur fly. The rivalry between Sweetwater/Snyder/Wylie is going to be a hoot. Throw in an occiasional jab from Merkel and I would pay to see it (I guess I already have since I am a donating Member:D :D ).

Why would you wait to commit some of the best you have to a relay at a qualifiers meet, that means nothing ?
Why wouldn't they commit them to it (the 1600 m relay ) at the dist meet where it gives you a chance to move on with more kids, to the regional meet?

Mean_Machine
04-23-2004, 07:20 AM
Well now lets see why... Boyd Won the 400 at district with new district record 49.2 = 10 pts and maybe 10 pts at regional... the 300 IH kid Won District with 40.5 = 10pts and will do good at regionals.. and Wells Ran 22.3 in the 200 meters and got 2nd by a hair = 8 pts. and should finish in the top 3 at regionals. all that ads up to 28 pts or an average of 9 pts each that you would loose by putting them on the 4X400. the most they can score for the team is 5 pts each on the relay. so they each run one event and 2 relays ( 4X100 and 4X200)..

Snyder Ran a 42.5 in the 4X100
Finished 3rd in the 4x400 behind C city and another. Sweetwater was DQed. I hear they ran well. Snyders first two legs were the onew who were the strong ones. Boyd and Cain. they had snyder easily in first the first half of the race.. I understand it was used as a workout for them.

Boyd also won the High jump with 6-6 .
Pinson finished second in the 110s with 14.8
Mc Natt won the Discus with 163'.
The 4X200 meter relay team was 15 yards ahead of everybody until they droped the baton and had to go back and get it and still finished 3rd with a time of 1:32

THe kid from Snyder won't finish top three at regionals. The two kids form Graham and the kid form Pecos will batlte for the top three spots they run 21.7's and there are some 22 flats also. the 4X100 will be an exciting race at regionals. It is goiing to be fun to see who wins the Regional Championship. Is Mcnatt a Sr?

Snyder has the fastes4X100 meter time going into the regional track meet and 2nd fastest time by .15 in the 4x200 relay. second best performance in the discus and second best in the high jump. a miler who has the 3rd best time, 300 hurdler with the second best time and in the long jump the 3rd best. Boyd has the best 400 meter time in the region with 49.2 . snyder will compete well for the title in odessa

Snyder does not have the fatest sprint relay time. Graham does they ran a 42.4 and their 4x2 can run in the 1.28 but they have not been pushed all year. What are yalls hurdle times.

I was refering to the Times ran at the District track meets.. the ones posted on texas track .com those are official results. I believe Snyder will Run a low 1:28 or high 1:27 at regionals in the 800 relay. they were 15 yards ahead of Sweetwater when they doped the baton on the second handoff. and Sweetwater ran a 1:28 yesterday. I believe Graham will be pushed saturday:D . Pinson Snyders Soph is running 14.8 in the 110s and Cain is Runnign 40.2 in the 300s..

Mean machine you may have thought yall were 15 yards ahead but the staggers are so long that they dont even out until the last leg. Also our sprint relay and 4x2 weren't full strength at district but will be at regionals.

Look Snyder DROPPED THE BATON and had to stop, go back and pick it up and still ran a 1:32.SO, what ever makes you feel better about regionals:D IF it is easyer for you to accept by thinking of it that way then fine. BUT ,I will be able to say I told you so afterwards . I believe Graham will be "pushed " and may even take third behind Snyder and Sweetwater. but I expect a close finnish

My Boy Gonzales runs the 300's from Vernon. He ran a 40.2 second behind a Graham runner that ran a 40.1. That was his first time to run the hurdles all year (He has been hurt) and it showed as he ran out of gas during the last 20 yards when the Graham runner caught him. That will be two weeks ago and I bet that he will make up 1 to 2 second between now and the regional meet. He ran a 39 as a sophmore (He is a senior now) and I bet he gets into the 38's at regionals. There were two kids from district 6 that ran 39's and I have no idea what the Kennedale district did. I do know that a 40 or even a 39 will not make the cut in the hurdles at regionals. Look for both qualifying times to be in the 38's. I just hope my son's work these two weeks will get him into better shape to make up those 2 seconds.

Mean Machine:

Not taking anything away from Snyder (I don't know much about them except what you have told this board) but those Graham runners were not even challenged by anyone in our district. They ran the 800 relay with two guys that were not that fast and the final two legs were just unbelievable. I just could not get over how stinking fast they were.

I don't think Graham's 100 meter runners will do too well (they will make the cut though) but they have two 200m sprinters that are both awesome. Bubba Chuck talked them up to me and I had to see them to believe and well that day came and I saw how fast they were. With so many good runners the regionals should be interesting. Graham just walked away with district 5.

I will be pulling for my own in the 300!
