What are your schools top 10 or 5 wins of all time? They don't necessarily have to be playoff wins just wins that you got over an arch rival wins that really signaled the programed getting turned around or big playoff wins..

Here are mine for Everman

10. 2000 Class 3A Div I Reg Final Everman 34 Daingerfield 8: Everman holds the 12-0 Tigers to 180 yards of toal offense in a convincing win to give Everman their first ever regional title.

9. 1960 Regular Season Everman 22 Aledo 14: Everman wins its first ever district championship in only their 3rd year of playing football at old Anderson Field.

8. 1999 Regular Season: Everman 39 Brownwood 34: Everman stuns the Lions who were ranked in the 4A Top 10, the win really signaled that after a down year in 1998 Everman was again a force to be reckoned with and the win was the first real big win Coach Keelings time at Everman...

7. 1991 Regular Season: Everman 13 Stephenville 0: Everman shuts out the high powered and unbeaten Yellow Jackets...Stephenville coming off a trip to the state semi-finals was ranked 4th in Class 4A...the win gave Everman the 6-4A title and catepulted Everman to a regional semi-final appearance in Dan Yokeley's first year..

6. 1961 Class B Regional: Everman 14 Royse City 0: Everman wins the Class B regional title which was as far as a Class B team could go, Everman finished the year at 9-1-2.....

5. 1984 Regular Season: Everman 14 Cleburne 10: In front of the largest crowd ever at Marr Stadium (8500 est) Everman secures the 5-4A title and thier first district title since 1962 with a thrilling win over the unbeaten and state ranked Yellow Jackets....

4. 2001 3A Area Round Playoff: Everman 21 Forney 17: In front of a packed house at Pennington Field, Everman ranked #2 in the state and 11-0 holds #1 ranked and 11-0 Forney on a 4th down with less than a minute left inside the Everman 25 to secure a thrilling win...

3. 1984 Regular Season: Everman 20 Brownwood 15: Everman with less than 3 min left and trailing 15-14 hits a long pass inside the Lions 10 and a couple of plays later scores on a short TD run as Everman finally defeats Brownwood, the win catepulted Everman towards a run of 10-0 and their district title...

2. 2002 3A Div 1 State Championship: Everman 35 Burnet 14: Everman rolls up 490 yards of offense including 404 on the ground and secures their second straight state title..

1. 2001 3A Div 1 State Championship: Everman 25 Sinton 14: Capitalizing on 2 key Sinton 3rd quarter turnovers Everman turns a 14-6 halftime deficit into a 25-14 win in a battle of 14-0 teams....

Great Choice of No. 1 Matt even Sinton lost it was a well played game by two great teams with great fans and coaches. I don't know if this would be Sinton's top win of all times but it would have to have been in the top ten or twenty and that was our 2002 win over Gregory-Portland by the score of 16 to 7 with the game being played at G-P. It was significant because they were in the same district during the late 60s up to the late 70s and even though Sinton had played several great games with them Sinton never could win a varsity game against G-P. G-P made some key fumbles in the game but that was mainly because of Sinton's clean hard hitting. Sinton was holding a 9 to 7 lead late in the game when Adrian Alanis who was mainly trying to make a first down to eat up the clock broke loose on a long td run that cinched it for Sinton by the final score. There was great joy along with relief on the Sinton side after that game and it was great to be a part of it even as just a fan.

For Jasper... ANY win over WOS!!! :D

I remember a game in the early 90's (I think) that 4A Jasper was playing 5A Huntsville in Jasper. Huntsville was playing with a hot-shot quarterback (the eldest Clements boy) with as much composure and talent as I've ever seen in a high school quarterback. It was a hard fought game with Jasper ahead by a touchdown or less in Huntsville's final drive. We watched in horror as Clements led that Huntsville team methodically down the field into Jasper territory. But, Jasper was able to keep them out of the end zone on that final drive. It was a THRILLING game to watch. Blowouts are fun (if you're on the winning end), but close games are the best to watch!

1984 was a very important season in Everman football history....that season finally got the Bulldogs over the hump...1979 was also big as that 7-2-1 team really signaled that Everman had turned the corner from all the losing seasons between 1963 and 1978...during that time Everman had one winning season in 15 years....ouch

2000: 4A Div. II State Semifinals, WO-S vs. Calallen — With just a minute left in the game, quarterback Jonathan Feathers connects with Jermaine Hope on a 60-yard touchdown pass to give Calallen yet another last-minute loss in the state semis.

1986: 4A State Championship, WO-S vs. McKinney — In its first-ever year in 4A, WO-S claims the title with a 21-9 defeat of McKinney at the Astrodome.

1987: 4A State Championship, WO-S vs. Rockwall — The Mustangs cap a 15-0 season with a 17-7 win over Rockwall at Kyle Field. It was their 23rd straight win.

NewStang, I thought for sure that the win over Jasper in 86 would've been right up there. That was WOS's toughest game all year. Matter of fact, WOS's only loss in 86 was to Jasper...right?

I think that's right. Was that the game we won 3-0? Being a senior that year, you'd think I'd remember.

Two years WOS put Jasper out of the playoffs at the Regional level at SHSU. Boy, that '87 team was loaded with talent. They really disappointed me that year.

#3) I can't recall the dates specifically, but Gainesville had a huge win over Brownwood in the '70's that all the old alumni always bring up every year when they discuss football. (I wouldn't know, seeing as how I was just a wee egg in my mom's stomach and she was in high school at the time. :D )

2.) Gainesville beating Southlake Carroll at Carroll to snap their 70+ district winning streak. Celebrating on their field in front of thousands of Dragon fans was just awesome! (The team had a police escort all the way out of Tarrant County.)

1.) Of course, Gainesville beating Burnet to claim the State Championship. What an awesome game! I was just thinking about it in class today actually.

The come from behind game against forney could be added.. or the come from behind game against bridgeport a couple years ago, that put Gainesville back on the map for good.. those could be in the top 10.. i'm sure there are a few that could be added ahead of those

WO-S lost to Aldine MacArthur that year too.

The Jasper win was a good one, but I wouldn't put it in the Top 10. Quite a few of the WO-S/Jasper games have been memorable ones, along with many of our games w/ PN-G.

I'd also throw in WO-S vs. Bay City in 2000 as a particularly memorable one.

#2 has to be in 1998 when Rockdale beat Marlin in the 2cd or 3rd round and went on the next week to lose to the State Championship winner Newton.
#1 is 1976 state championship win.

I agree with you Phil. A top ten win, at least. That GP win was great if only to hush those GP posters for a day. Freaking awesome!
The win over Hitchcock in '91(date?) stands out because of the way the Pirates pulled it off. Letting them score with less than 2 minutes to go and then having a running team pass for the tie and win on penetrations. I have never had the same exuberation for a winning game I attended ever...

Well as far as the school is concerned, I'm not sure if this is a big win or not. But for me and the other seniors of '98 at Glen Rose it was pretty big. First of all some background. In '97 we played Kennadale in the regular season and got our butts whooped to a tune of 48-6 I think. It left a bitter taste in all of our mouths. The next year we played them again in the regular season at home. They had the defending state champ in the 300h as their running back(can't remember his name). He later went on to play football at TCU. Anyway, I'll leave out all of the boring details but we beat them 5 to nothing. It was my favorite game that I ever played in.

I would have to include the win against Mathis in 2002. They were talking all kinds of junk about Adrian. It had alot to do with the 1999 game, which Mathis won  and they thought they'd repeat as district champs. Anyway--Sinton handed them their butts in a 45-0 rout!! It was awesome :D

And then the Region Final against Bellville---just awesome!! Those are my highlight games.l

i dont know about a long time ago, but of recent some of our big wins were against greenwood this year, snyder last year, and in 98 going into the playoffs 4-6 as the 3rd place team we beat #1 ranked Breckenridge in the quarter finals 29-0. thats probably the biggest win in recent history

wow i've always wanted to do something like this.....let me at it...okay first off let me just go back to my recent memory of high school football....

2002 Bi-district Championship....Liberty played a better orangefield team and ended up in the end winning by like 2 points or a touchdown, anyway that win put them over the hump of like 5 straight years of going one and done in the playoffs as they went on the face a supreme and more talented Bellville team

1998 District game vs. SFA....once again the heroics of a wide reciever named brandon edwards was in spectacular fashion...anway i think that was his name....he had caught a 45 yard bomb the game before to help us come from behind and he did it again putting us in the playoffs..the crucial moment of the game came afterwards when SFA through a hailmary at the end of the game and their wide reciever caught it in the endzone and landed out of bounds giving liberty the win...what a finish!

2000 District Game Liberty vs. Hardin Jefferson...Liberty had faced a rather passing dominant Lumberton team the week before in homecoming and lost by 2 leaving them with a 4-4 records and barely hangin on too any chance of a playoff spot...HJ went into the game 8-0 with a stud qb, wr, and LB who could all play the game solidly...the game ended up going into triple overtime with pass caught by tj redmond from allen morris to tie the game at 35 and then a 2 point run in sweep by mikey zeno that game gave liberty the momentum to get into the playoffs and prolly one of the best come from behind go late into thenight games....not to mention that next day i had to get up and take the SAT's and they wonder why i'm at LEE COLLEGE...

2003 Liberty FOOTBALL season...went undefeated, beating a Barber's Hill Team that hadn't lost in district in 3 years, beating a first team all state RB from Huffman, beating a decent 4a team in silsbee, and all with the running game and not the aireal assault......good times for sure

Which two years are you talking about? WOS beat Jasper at SHSU in '86, 20-15. In 87 it was West Columbia that knocked Jasper out of the playoffs in a game played down in Conroe. The next week WOS knocked WC out if I remember correctly. I think Jasper softened them up for WOS. :D

WC had a two way player at running back and DB. I thought for sure that he would wear out by the 4th quarter, but that time it was Jasper that was worn out.

That was fun wasn't it? Noone knew it would be 45-0! We knew Sinton was good and Mathis was good but not that!
Lots of partying that night in Sinton. Those horns were blowing as I was gassing up the car at the Diamond Shamrock. lol
That regional final against Bellville was awesome too. That Bellville team was huge and had the best team that year(next to Everman, of course) I'd seen. That fourth quarter was a heart stopper! I drove from SA and arrived middle of the first quarter. Dang.
Those are still highlights of Sinton Pirate Football regardless...

Some of you may need to help me because I wasn't living in Sinton back then but they were bound to be two big wins because some of the older folks talk about them a lot. In 1962 Sinton played Donna in a regional game when both were in 2A I think and Donna had won the State Championship a year before. Sinton was ahead 21 to 0 at the end of the third quarter but Donna got the momentum in the fourth quarter and scored two touchdowns before time ran out leaving the final score 21 to 14. A great comeback by Donna and a great win for Sinton over the defending state champions. One of Donna's star players Freddie Edwards went on to play good football at UT.
Also this was not a win but it was as good as a win but I need details on it. Sinton played a regional game in Sinton 1958 I think. This is from folks that were at the game. Back then statistics were used in tie games to determine who advanced. The final score was 13 to 13. It took thirty minutes after the game to determine who advanced. At that time penetrations (times you got inside the opponent's 20 yard line) was used first and then if that was tied then first downs were used and then afterward total yardage. I think that it came down to total yardage which is why it took so long after the game to determine who advanced. I can imagine the silence and agony as both sides had to wait for the final results as the game was reviewed. After what I am sure it was an eternity Sinton advanced by virtue of having just a few more yards in total offense. { This Sinton team lost to a Scott Appleton team (I am not sure which HS) 6 - 0. Appletons's team lost the state championship game. He went on to become an all American at UT on Texas National Championship Team of 1963. } Even though Sinton advanced then and again against Hitchcock thank goodness today for the overtime to determine winners.

I don't know about all time, but Orangefield had two big wins this past season.

1. Beat Bridge City 15-14. OF was down 14-7. They drove down the field and scored with .39 seconds left, but our place holder and snapper were both injured, so there was not doubt we were going for two. QB rolled to his right and no one was open so he tucked the ball and ran it in. OF wins 15-14.

2. Bidistrict playoff game against Liberty. Liberty came in undefeated at 10-0 and a big favorite in this game. That was probably the best OF played all season. Defense held Liberty in check and the offense made plays when it needed too. OF won 21-14. Great game by both teams.

Bridge City vs. Lcm in 2001 (I think?) Well anyway the "Mud Bowl" Not sure of the details, maybe old card can remember but BC was up by one or two, fourth quarter with a few seconds left. Lcm's ball in BC territory about to attempt a field goal. The field was horrible from a rain that seemed to have lasted all day and night. The ball was snapped and the kick was blocked for the Bridge City win.

Baytown Sterling vs. Katy Tigers (1999)....One of the most exciting games i ever saw....It was Katy's homecoming and i felt like i was at a Nebraska Cornhusker game (if you ever been to their stadium imagine it sold out in blood red) they hadnt lost in 35 regular season games which was some type of record in 5a apparantly and their seniors were very proud that they had never seen them loose a regular season game....Katy was fresh off a year where they actually made it to the title game only to have played an inelligible player to make them forfeit the semifinal game....Anyways i believe they were ranked in the top 5 in the state at the time...Sterling on the other hand...well if you have been around baytown you know about Sterling's dissmal football programs since 1985....havent been to the playoffs and i believe if you added up their wins from 1995 to 1998 you wouldve gotten less than 10....anyways Sterling had a better team than usual in 1999 and they ran the opening kickoff back for a TD....it was silent in that sold out stadium....as teh game went on Sterling kept scoring to go ahead at halftime 21-7....then in the 2nd half came the roaring comeback that all us Sterling fans knew would happen but in the 4th quarter the greatest thing happend....when it was 21-18 katy had a 4th and 8 on their 20...there was 8 min. or so left and for some reason they went for it...they passed and got the first down but the receiver never saw the saftey coming right at him....he laid out the receiver who fumbled and the corner ran the ball in for a TD....Sterling held on to give Katy one of its 2 losses that year 28 to 25....the next time Katy would loose....the State Championship game to Garland...this arguably was one of the biggest upsets in Texas Highschool football history and i sure was glad i was there to see it :) ahh good memories (unfortunately we didnt go to the playoffs that year and that was the only winning season Sterling has had since the 1985 so far...they went 6-4...we won 4 games my next 3 years of highschool)

I've been reading this thread for several days and decided I couldn't resist putting a couple of Ballinger's memorable wins on here.

Most recently, 2002 win over Kennedale in the Regional Quarters in overtime!! GREAT!

My other favorite, and I can never remember the year, maybe Vet can help me out, he may have been on that team. Ballinger beat Littlefield in the Regional Quarters. Aaron Keesee was the quarterback. Ballinger wasn't supposed to have a prayer, but we did it. If I'm not mistaken, we lost to Vernon in the Region finals the next week.

I would have to say the games that I consider the top Games Cuero played were

1. In 1970 Cuero Beat Ennis 12-6 the number 1 team in the state in the semi- finals.

2. 1973 - Cuero won it's first state Championship 21-7 against Mt. Pleasant.

3.1974 - Cuero won it's second title 19-7 against Ganinesville.

4. In 1999 upsetting 4A power C.C. Calallen 13-10 on their home field. They had not lost a game in 6 years on their home field.

Catwoman...I have steered clear of this one just because I wouldn't want to leave anyone out. It is a lot easier to name the great teams than list specific games. Both of the ones that you have talked about were big ones and they both have a special place in my heart. The Kennedale/Ballinger game was special to me that year because I got the privelage to speak at the pep rally for that game. I had looked at the schedules and the teams that each team had played that year and I really thought Ballinger had a shot to upset a tremendously talented Kennedale team (everyone I talked to thought that I was crazy). They pulled the upset. Kennedale probably would have won 8 out of 10 times had they played a series but not that day. At the pep rally I paraphrased a line from "Remember the Titans"...."Never let them forget the day that they played the Ballinger Bearcats". I get teary-eyed just thinking about it. The second game that you mentioned was the Regional Semifinal game in 1983. Littlefield was coming off of a finals appearance the year before and were the #1 ranked team in the state at the time. Ballinger supposedly didn't have a prayer. They were behind 10-0 at halftime...In the second half Ballinger started making a comeback and took the lead (11-10) with about 6 minutes left in the game. Littlefield with the help of their all-state running back (Steve Greene) battled back and scored with 2 minutes left to make the score 16-11 (they went for two and missed). Ballinger, lead by Aaron Keesee, who went on to start for Texas Tech as a freshman, used a no-huddle, two minute offense and scored to win the game with 30 seconds left. The final was 18-16. Mike Lee the long-time sportswriter for the San Angelo Standard Times said that it was the greatest game that he ever watched. I was the starting right tackle....I can still remember most of the details of the game. It was the single most exciting moment in my high school career. We lost to Post the next game...I think we left it all on the field the week before in Sweetater.

Spiveyrat are you still reading this thread? Saw your picture in the '87 yearbook. That is about the only Jasper HS yearbook where someone bothered to put in all the football scores. That was a very talented team. Cedric Hafford is one of the best QB's Jasper ever produced. This was the first year we played WOS and we won the district game 21-8 in Orange. I remember the rain during the game. Rafel Adams beat all the defenders and Cedric hit him with a beautiful pass that floated through the rain and hit Rafel in stride. He didn't drop it. It was 6 pts. Then came the rematch in the qtr-finals. WOS seemed to know what we were going to do before we did it (or tried to do it). Chris Hunt was met
at the line time after time. And still it took a trick play to win for WOS. The WOS QB laid the ball on the ground and the guard picked it up. I saw the guard's knee on the ground as he sort of fell on the ground to pick up the ball, but the ref didn't. They won by less than 7 points. After the game some scouts from opposing teams told us that WOS was intercepting our coaches radio communications. Guess what I found out? The first time we played them, the coaches had forgotten the radios!

Riiiiiight... That's what we always did... Intercept radio signals
Come on already... That's just kinda pitiful...
Oh well, excuses are like... you know...

Good coaches like Hooks don't need radios to read a team. He probably didn't take Jasper seriously in the district game, but he obviously had the team prepared for the QF game. :( I wouldn't be surprised if someone said such a thing, but that does not make it a fact. The Lufkin coach once accused Jasper of stealing his offensive messages. It caused a big stink in the newspapers for awhile. But, it all died away when it was established that the DC for Jasper wasn't even wearing his headphone! Apparently the 5a Lufkin coach may have needed an excuse for losing to a small enrollment 4a team.

I think that one of Rockdale's greatest wins of all time was in 1998 when they defeated Marlin for the Area Championship. They had lost to Marlin at the season openner that year, and Marlin was physically stonger and faster, but the guys played with a lot of heart and won...I'll never forget that game.

And i'm sure my fellow Port Isabel Tarpon fans would agree with me, it has to be the 3rd round game in 1994 between Port Isabel and then #1 Cuero.

The game ended tied at 20-20, but since overtime wasn't in effect at the time, Port Isabel advanced via penetrations 5-3, avenging a loss to Cuero the previous year in the same round 63-8.

Port Isabel's biggest WIN had to be the state quarterfinal, 4 overtime game against Rice Consolidated this past season. 63-61.

And yes, I have film of it! :D

Another big game for Sinton and I need help here for the exact year but I think it was 1998 when we played Aransas Pass. AP had hired one of our former coaches Gary Davenport who had done a good job for them and in fact they had reached the quarterfinals the year before in Division 1 and Sinton had had a couple of bad years. This game started Sinton back to winning. The game was tied 21 to 21 and AP had the ball first and scored to be ahead 28 t 21. Sinton score again. The coach realized our team was tired and so we went for two points and got it winning 29 to 28 starting Sinton back to winning ways.

You're right, my friend, except it was in '89. Jasper won that game 28-25 and it was Ben Bronson's coming out party as the Dogs' QB. He was fantastic and the Hornets QB was Steve Clements. His brother Chuck took over the next year and was great as well.

Here are what I think are some of Sinton's top wins in no particular order.

1991 Sinton defeats Hitchcock- Not sure the exact score on this game but the Pirates were trailing by a point with less that 2 minutes to play. Sinton's coach told the defense to purposely let them score. They did and eventually ended up winning the game.

November 2000 Sinton defeats #5 Cuero- Sinton was unranked and favored to lose this game but came out on top. After Sinton's quarterback Adrian Alaniz seperated his should in the 2nd quarter, his brother, Emi, who hadn't took a snap since 8th grade stepped in and finished the game. Great win for the Pirates

September 28, 2001 Sinton 45- Mathis 0 -This was supposed to be for the game that decided the District 30-3A title and after a week of Mathis trash talking about Adrian Alaniz, he took the first play from scrimmage right up the middle of Mathis' defense for a 43 yard touchdown run. Mathis couldnt do much of anything after and was shut out 45-0.

December 1, 2001 #4 Sinton 21- #7 Bellville 13 - The Pirates turned a 13-7 halftime deficit into a 21-13 victory with a pair of 2nd half touchdowns. This victory was the first time Sinton made it to the semfinals in 10 years.

December 8, 2001 Sinton 38- Bridge City 0 - Sinton played an almost flawless game from the opening kickoff, giving up only 102 total yards, to advance to the State Championship game for the first time in school history.

Sinton 13- Gregory Portland 7- Tied 7-7 late in the fourth quarter Sinton's QB Adrian Alaniz got around the corner of GP's defense and busted for a 70 yard touchdown run. This was the Sinton's first time to defeat the Wildcat's in school history. They were rivals back in the 60's and 70's but Sinton had never beaten them.

a big one for Forney was the '89 season. We beat District rival and favorite Kaufman to win district and get into the playoffs for the first time in 5 years and the first time in 3A.

1. WO-S 21, McKinney 9 - 1986 4A State Championship game

2. WO-S 17, Rockwall 7 - 1987 4A State Championship game

3. WO-S over LaMarque in 2000 4A DII Regional Finals. Our one and only victory over the Cougars.

4. WO-S 20, Jasper 15 - 1986 4A Regional Finals. I remember that game like it was yesterday. Remember the "guard around" guys?

5. WO-S over New Braunfels - 1986 4A Semifinals. A comeback win on the way to the first 4A title.

6. WO-S over Kerrville Tivy - 1987 4A Semifinals.

7. WO-S over Callalen - 2000 DII State Semis. It is still the only time I have seen WO-S operate the two minute offense.

8. WO-S over West Columbia - 1987 4A Regional Finals. Kevin Smith returned an interception 102 yards in the Astrodome on the final play of the game in a rout to give WO-S a three touchdown win.

9. WO-S over Aldine McArthur - 1987 Pre-district. McArthur was ranked No. 1 in 5A and No. 6 in the USA Today National Poll when the 'Stangs took them down.

10. WO-S 10, Beaumont Westbrook 7 - 1985 District. One of the first "big" wins as Westbrook was ranked No. 7 in 5A at the time.

For my Jasper friends, the 1987 WO-S/Jasper game would probably be 10a.

I bet that was a thrill for all of you on the team. I was living in Dallas at the time and I took off early to drive to Sweetwater. I remember some of my co-workers asking why I would drive so far to see a high school football game, especially since I didn't have "anyone" on the team. I told them they would never understand.
