I've noticed some things and want to pass on to other users.

If you experience a "slow down" of timing involved with replies and such on this board, you might need to go into the "Tools" section of your browser and delete all temporary internet files and cookies. This will generally return your system to normal speed. Cookies are also where most spyware is installed. Regular cleaning of these two should keep you at optimal speed and will fend off most spyware.

For people who are new to the board, beneath every post is a clickable link where you can report any post to a moderator. We are notified by email, so you can do so anonomously as far as the rest of the board is concerned. Feel free to use it.

If you think you are being harassed by a poster on here, you can go into your profile and select the invisible mode. This will allow you to browse the site and not be shown as logged in. You will be invisible to everyone except admins. Of course, you will give yourself away if you post while invisible.

Also in your profile is an option to receive a 'pop-up" notification when you receive a private message. Enabling this option should eliminate all those "XXXXX check privates" topics. The pop-up notification window itself is an alert, and should be allowed by most pop-up blockers. The new window for the message however, does come up as a pop-up and may be blocked.

Any member who has learned any tips, please feel free to share.

Thanks... great information... something I'd like to add for the new posters is how to change the time... click 'user cp' button in the upper right hand corner... then click 'edit options'... there you'll find the timestamp...

There are some very good suggestions here. Why not put a Sticky on it for awhile so everyone will get a chance to read them? :)

For everybody's info, avatars are now set to 100x100 pixels. The 50x50 was way too small. Anybody with 1500 or more posts can do your own avatar. Less than 1500 has to choose from the "canned" list.

What exactly is on the canned list? I was curious and tried to look at them, but had no joy...

Hmmm, I went onto the control panel tonight and saw zero avaiable stock avatars.

Did you try it from your user cp? That's where I saw them at first. He may have removed them though. There were 14 or 15 different football helmets at one time.

Silly question, of course you did. Has anyone else tried to select an avatar?

LOL...

Although it would be kind of cool for everyone to have their affiliation by their screen name...

You were right, Slpybear. He has removed the helmets. So, right now, there is no "canned" list. He may be searching for better ones.
