Where do bad folks go when they die.
They don't go to Heaven where the Angels fly.
Go to a Lake of Fire and fry.
See em' again til' the 4th of July.

The Reverend He turned to me
without a tear in his eyes
its nothing new for him to see
i didnt ask him why
i will remember

sworn to make
now I watch the falling rain

now is your face

I have a lot of favorite songs, but this one just happens to be the song that I'm listening to:

everyone plays the hand they're dealt
and learns to walk through life themselves
not everything in life is handed on a plate
when people think your words are true
it doesn't matter what you do
i sold my soul to get here
how 'bout you?

Turbostud, I like Pantera too. One of my friends' dad was in a band that used to tour with Pantera and opened for them. They never made it big, but I think they would have had they not broken up. His dad was the singer and played lead guitar....I don't know if this means anything to ya'll, I think that it's awesome though....:D

"Hurt"

what have I become?
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end
you could have it all
my empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

you could have it all
my empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
if I could start again
a million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

Not because of who I am
but because of what you've done
Not because of what I've done
but because of who you are.

I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
A vapor in the wind

Still you hear me when I'm calling
Lord you catch me when I'm falling
You tell me who I am....
I am Yours.....I am yours

at what point did i,
did i know that i would be found?

carry away my mind
carry away my time, sweep me away
carry away my time

who gave the right to interrupt my life
with thoughts of You
needless to say, i bid my rights good day
i'm here to live and dine with You
only You. Lord

I close my eyes
Only for a moment, then the momen't gone
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind
All they are is dust in the wind
.
Same old song
Just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do
Crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind, ohh
.
Now, don't hang on
Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
.
Dust in the wind
Everything is dust in the wind
Everything is dust in the wind
The wind

Wow-this is a good thread. I have way too many favorite songs, but here is one of my current favorites. It always makes me laugh! :)

South of San Antonio, outside Aransas Pass East of Corpus Christi, you won't find it on a map
In between the condos, those million dollar homes
There's a campground on the ocean where all the real people go.
On the Redneck Riviera, welcome to the Promise Land
Hitched the trailer to my pickup
put a cold one in my hand :D
Well, I don't need no fancy high rise
I'm livin' off the land, I got all I ever need
my family's here with me, my castle's in the Sand...

Rollin’ down a backwoods tennessee byway,
one arm on the wheel,
holdin’ my Lover with the other: a sweet, soft, southern thrill.
Worked hard all week; got a little jingle on a tennessee saturday night.
Couldn’t feel better: I’m together with my dixieland delight.
Spend my dollar; parked in a holler ’neath the mountain moonlight; hold her
Uptight; make a little lovin’, a little turtle dovin’ on a mason dixon night.
Fits my life, oh, so right: my dixieland delight.
Whitetail buck deer munchin’ on clover, redtail hawk settin’ on a limb, a
Chubby old groundhog, croakin’ bullfrog, free as the feelin’ in the wind.
Home grown country girl gonna give me a whirl on a tennessee saturday night.
Lucky as a seven livin’ in heaven with my dixieland delight.

How small a part of time we share 'till we hear the sound of wings

One of the big news items of the past year concerned the fact that china, which we called "red china," exploded a nuclear bomb, which we called a device. then indonesia announced that
S going to have one soon, and proliferation became the word of the day. here's a song about that:

First we got the bomb, and that was good,
'cause we love peace and motherhood.
Then russia got the bomb, but that's okay,
'cause the balance of power's maintained that way.
Who's next?

France got the bomb, but don't you grieve,
'cause they're on our side (i believe).
China got the bomb, but have no fears,
They can't wipe us out for at least five years.

Who's next?

Then indonesia claimed that they
Were gonna get one any day.
South africa wants two, that's right:
One for the black and one for the white.
Who's next?

Egypt's gonna get one too,
Just to use on you know who.
So israel's getting tense.
Wants one in self defense.
"the lord's our shepherd," says the psalm,
But just in case, we better get a bomb.
Who's next?

Luxembourg is next to go,
And (who knows?) maybe monaco.
We'll try to stay serene and calm
When alabama gets the bomb.
Who's next?
Who's next?
Who's next?
Who's next?

I know not everybody

but I gotta think twice

but I need some time off

Hey drink up all you people
And order anything you see
Have fun you happy people
The drink and the laugh's on me

Try to think that love's not around
Still it's uncomfortably near
My poor old heart ain't gainin' any ground
Because my angel eyes ain't here

Angel eyes, that old Devil sent
They glow unbearably bright
Need I say that my love's mispent
Mispent with angel eyes tonight

So drink up all of you people
Order anything you see
And have fun you happy people
The drink and the laugh's on me

Pardon me but I gotta run
The fact's uncommonly clear
I gotta find who's now the number one
And why my angel eyes ain't here
'Scuse me while I disappear

I remember the day you left
I remember the last breath you took right in front of me
When you said that u would leave
I was too damn stubborn to try to stop you or say anything
But I see clearly now
and this chose I made keep playing in my head
Over and over again
Playing my head
Over and over again
Ohh
I think she’s leaving
Ooh man she’s leaving
I don’t know what else to do
(I Can’t go on not loving you)

This song was written by Brand New. They are probably one of the best bands out right now, but no one really knows that much of them.

I Will Play My Game Beneath The Spin Light lyrics

The time has come for colds and overcoats.
We're quiet on the ride, we're all just waiting to get home.
Another week away, my greatest fear.
I need the smell of summer,
I need its noises in my ears.
If looks could really kill, then my profession would staring.
Please know we do this cause we care and not for the thrill.
Collect calls to home to tell them that
I realize that everyone who lives will someday die and die alone.
And we won't let you in.
Though we're down and out.no
We won't let you in.
I wrote more postcards than hooks.
I read more maps than books.
Feel like every chance to leave is another chance
I should have took. Every minute is a mile.
I've never felt so hallow.
I'm an old abandoned church with broken pews and empty aisles.
My secrets for a buck.
Watch me as I cut myself wide open on this stage.
Yes, I am paid to spill my guts. I won't see home till spring.
Oh, I would kill for the Atlantic,
but I am paid to make girls panic while I sing.
And we won't let you in.
Though we're down and out.
We won't let you in. And we won't let you in.
We don't want what isn't ours. We won't let you in. You win.
And the coastline is quiet. While we're quietly losing control.
Yes, we're silent but sure we inventened the cure that will
wash out my memories of her.
"The harpoon is loaded. The cage is lowered.
The water is red." Like you.

Friday night butterflies,
like clock-work they'd arrive;
A little chill in the October sky,
nervous till the kick-off came.
Four quarters win or lose,
spent Saturdays black & blue.
It was what I loved to do
and it was more than just a game.
It was my life & it was fun.
Another season of my life thats done,
another race I'm glad I got to run,
another chapter of my life it's over.
No I'm never gonna feel that way again
Time's rushin' by me like the wind
Never be as young as I was then,
no I'm never gonna feel that way again.

'dancing with a man'

I saw her sittin' in a bar-room in that smokey atmosphere
She smiled back at me as I drank down one last beer
She pulled me on the dancefloor and we danced a song or two
It was then I realized that I had bit off more than I could chew

Chorus
I think I'm dancing with a man
She's got calasses on her hands
She's got a voice deeper than mine
She gets a st*ffy when we grind
I think I'm dancing with a man

We sat down and talked a while and we listened to the band
Then a friend of mine walked by and he asked her if she'd dance
Then he gently took her hand (oooooh-oooooh)
and he twirled her round and round
It looked like he was having fun until her skirt fell to the ground

Chorus
I think he's dancing with a man
The boys at the lodge won't understand
With her hand on his behind
They two-stepped till half past 9
I think he's dancing with a man

Ohhh sh*t I think we're dancing with a man
It'll be known throughout the land
Two boys from Texas danced the jig with a dude who wore a wig
We've been dancing with a man

She crushed a beer can on her head
Good Lord her foreheads red
We've been dancing with a big man

From the greatest rock anthem of all time..................

Beyond the palace hemi-powered drones scream down the boulevard
The girls comb their hair in the rearview mirrors
And the boys try to look so hard
The amusement park rises bold and stark
Kids are huddled on the beach in the mist
I wanna die with you Wendy on the streets tonight
In an everlasting kiss

Grew up in a small town
When the rain would fall down
I just stare out my window
Dreamin of what could be
And if I'd end up happy
I would pray

Tryin hard to reach out,
but when I try to speak out
Felt like no one could hear me
Wanted to belong here
But something felt so wrong here
So I pray I could break away

I'll spread my wings and learn how to fly
I'll do what it takes til I touch the sky
Make a Wish
Take a Chance
Make a Change
And Break Away

Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I wont forget all the ones that I love

NOT my favorite song, but still manorish :)

Here's to the past, they can kiss my glass.
(My favorite line)
I hope she's happy with him.
Here's to the girl, who wrecked my world,
That angel who did me in.
I think the devil drives a Coupe de Ville.
I watched 'em drive away over the hill,
Not against her will, an' I've got time to kill,
Down in Brokenheartsville.

I could run just like the wind.
Went to college like they asked me too
But they didn't ask my friends.
Don't think I seen a single classroom,

Hope dangles on a string
Like slow spinning redemption
Winding in and winding out
The shine of it has caught my eye
And roped me in
So mesmerizing, and so hypnotizing
I am captivated,
I am...

Vindicated
I am selfish
I am wrong
I am right
I swear I'm right
Swear I knew it all along
And I am flawed
But I am cleaning up so well
I am seeing in me now the things you swore you saw yourself

So clear
Like the diamond in your ring
Cut to mirror your intention
Oversized and overwhelmed
The shine of which has caught my eye
And rendered me so isolated, so motivated
I am certain now that I am...

So turn
Up the corners of your lips
Part them and feel my finger tips
Trace the moment, fall forever
Defense is paper thin
Just one touch and I'd be in
Too deep now to ever swim against the current
So let me slip away
So let me slip against the current
So let me slip away

Like hope
Dangles on a string
Like slow spinning redemption...

1 of Greatest songs ever

Some say the blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice
I say the darker the flesh then the deeper the roots
I give a holler to my sisters on welfare
Tupac cares, if don't nobody else care
And uhh, I know they like to beat ya down a lot
When you come around the block brothas clown a lot
But please don't cry, dry your eyes, never let up
Forgive but don't forget, girl keep your head up
And when he tells you you ain't nuttin don't believe him
And if he can't learn to love you you should leave him
Cause sista you don't need him
And I ain't tryin to cash up, I just call em how I see em
You know it makes me unhappy (what's that)
When brothas make babies, and leave a young mother to be unhappy
And since we all came from a woman
Got our name from a woman and our game from a woman
I wonder why we take from our women
Why we rape our women, do we hate our women?
I think it's time to kill for our women
Time to heal our women, be real to our women
And if we don't we'll have a race of babies
That will hate the ladies, that make the babies
And since a man can't make one
He has no right to tell a woman when and where to create one
So will the real men get up
I know you're fed up ladies, but keep your head up

Aiyyo, I remember Marvin Gaye, used to sing ta me
He had me feelin like black was tha thing to be
And suddenly tha ghetto didn't seem so tough
And though we had it rough, we always had enough
I huffed and puffed about my curfew and broke the rules
Ran with the local crew, and had a smoke or two
And I realize momma really paid the price
She nearly gave her life, to raise me right
And all I had ta give her was my pipe dream
Of how I'd rock the mic, and make it to tha bright screen
I'm tryin to make a dollar out of fifteen cents
It's hard to be legit and still pay tha rent
And in the end it seems I'm headin for tha pen
I try and find my friends, but they're blowin in the wind
Last night my buddy lost his whole family
It's gonna take the man in me to conquer this insanity
It seems tha rain'll never let up
I try to keep my head up, and still keep from gettin wet up
You know it's funny when it rains it pours
They got money for wars, but can't feed the poor
Say there ain't no hope for the youth and the truth is
it ain't no hope for tha future
And then they wonder why we crazy
I blame my mother, for turning my brother into a crack baby
We ain't meant to survive, cause it's a setup
And even though you're fed up
Huh, ya got to keep your head up

To all the ladies havin babies on they own
I know it's kinda rough and you're feelin all alone
Daddy's long gone and he left you by ya lonesome
Thank the Lord for my kids, even if nobody else want em
Cause I think we can make it, in fact, I'm sure
And if you fall, stand tall and comeback for more
Cause ain't nuttin worse than when your son
wants to kno why his daddy don't love him no mo'
You can't complain you was dealt this
hell of a hand without a man, feelin helpless
Because there's too many things for you to deal with
Dying inside, but outside you're looking fearless
While tears, is rollin down your cheeks
Ya steady hopin things don't all down this week
Cause if it did, you couldn't take it, and don't blame me
I was given this world I didn't make it
And now my son's getten older and older and cold
From havin the world on his shoulders
While the rich kids is drivin Benz
I'm still tryin to hold on to survivin friends
And it's crazy, it seems it'll never let up, but
please... you got to keep your head up

Good Morning, Beautiful
How was your night?
Mine was wonderful with you by my side
When I open my eyes to see your sweet face
it's a good morning, beautiful day!

I couldn't see the light
Didn't know day from night
I had no reason to care
But since you came along
I can face the dawn,
'Cause I know you'll be there.

I never worry if it's raining outside
'Cause in here with you, girl
The sun always shines!

or even...

Woke up this morning
With this feeling inside me that I can't explain
like a weight that I've carried
Has been carried away, away

But I know something is coming
I don't know what it is
But I know it's amazing, you same me
My time is coming
And I'll find a way out of this life...

It feels like today I know it feels like today I'm sure
It's the one thing that's missin'
The one thing I'm wishin'
Life's sacred blessin'
It feels like today
Feels like today

You treat life like a picture
But it's not a moment frozen in time
It's not gonna wait
Til you make up your mind, at all

So while this storm is breaking
While there's light at the end of the tunnel
Keep running towards it
Releasing the pressure, that's my heartache
Soon this daw will break

And it feels like today
I know, it feels like today, I'm sure
It's the one thing that's missin'
The one thing you're wishin'
Life's sacred blessin'
It feels like today

Feels like, feels like your life changes
Feels like, feels like your life changes

It's the one thing that's missin'
The one thing you're wishin'
Life's sacred blessin'
It feels like today

some of the best lyrical poetry is the song "Ebb Tide" written in 1953 by Carl Sigman and Robert Maxwell. Of course my fav. version was recorded by Frank SInatra in 1956 and arranged by Nelson Riddle.

Ebb Tide
First the tide rushes in
Plants a kiss on the shore
Then rolls out to sea
And the sea is very still once more
So I rush to your side
Like the oncoming tide
With one burning thought
Will your arms open wide
At last we're face to face
And as we kiss through an embrace
I can tell, I can feel
You are love, you are real
Really mine
In the rain, in the dark, in the sun
Like the tide at its ebb
I'm at peace in the web
Of your arms

AMERICA
Written by Neil Diamond

Far
We've been traveling far
Without a home
But not without a star

Free
Only want to be free
We huddle close
Hang on to a dream

On the boats and on the planes
They're coming to America
Never looking back again
They're coming to America

Home, don't it seem so far away
Oh, we're traveling light today
In the eye of the storm
In the eye of the storm

Home, to a new and a shiny place
Make our bed, and we'll say our grace
Freedom's light burning warm
Freedom's light burning warm

Everywhere around the world
They're coming to America
Every time that flag's unfurled
They're coming to America

Got a dream to take them there
They're coming to America
Got a dream they've come to share
They're coming to America

They're coming to America
They're coming to America
They're coming to America
They're coming to America
Today, today, today, today, today

My country 'tis of thee
Today
Sweet land of liberty
Today
Of thee I sing
Today
Of thee I sing
Today

- "Livin on Love"

Livin' on love, buyin' on time
Without somebody, nothin ain't worth a dime
Just like an old-fashioned story book rhyme, livin' on love
It sounds simple, that's what you're thinkin'
But love can walk through fire without blinkin'

- "Once in a Lifetime Love"

Some people have it, and some people don't
And some people never will
Sometimes it's hard to know when you've got it
Sometimes it's perfectly clear
Well i know it's out there, I've seen it happen
And I know the way it should feel
Cuz there's no mistaking, that good kind of aching
Of a once in a lifetime love

- "Holy Water"

She wants someone to call her angel
Someone to put the light back in her eyes
She's lookin' through the faces
And unfamiliar places
She needs someone to hear her when she cries
And she says take me away
And take me farther
Surround me now and hold, hold
Hold me like holy water

"Good Little Girls"

Hardly ever been kissed, 20 years of innocence
Just what I'm lookin' for
I wanna be the man who's holdin' her hand
When she can't hold it back any more
Good little girls make some mighty wild women
Savin' it up since the very beginning
When they fall in love
They wanna take it to the limit
Good little girls make some mighty wild women

- "Little Moments"

I know she's not perfect, but she tries so hard for me
And I think God that she isn't, cuz how boring would that be
It's the little imperfections, it's a simple change in plans
When she misreads the directions
And we're lost but holding hands
Yeah, I live for little moments like that

"Help Pour Out the Rain"

When we get to heaven
Can I taste the Milky Way?
Are we going there to visit
Or are we going there to stay?
Am I gonna meet my grandpa
Can I have a pair of wings?
And do you think that God
Could use another angel
To help pour out the rain?

"What a Beautiful Day"

Oh what a feeling, what a wonderful emotion
Oh what a life, counting my blessings and knowing
Ooh, we had our ups and downs all along the way
She had a chance to leave but chose to stay
What a beautiful day

"Awful, Beautiful Life"

I laid in bed that night and thought about the day
And how my life is like a roller coaster ride
The ups and downs and crazy turns along the way
It'll throw you off if you don't hold on tight
You can't really smile until you've shed some tears
I could die today or I might live on for years
I love this crazy, tragic, sometimes almost magic
Awful, beautiful life

- "Dust on the Bottle"

There might be a little dust on the bottle
But don't let it fool ya about what's inside
There might be a little dust on the bottle
It's one of those things that gets sweeter with time

Guns N Roses - Welcome to the Jungle
" You know where you are,
your in the jungle baby, your gonna die,
In the Jungle, Welcome to the Jungle
watch it bring you to you
sha-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na knees knees!"

Every song by Guns N Roses is awesome....i will always stand by that.

Led Zeppelin - Over the hills and far away
" Hey lady, you got the love i need,
mabye more than enough
oh darlin darlin darlin walk a while with me
oh you got so much, so much"

lol..and a little Iron Maiden for ya..
"RUN TO THE HILLS, RUN FOR YOUR LIVES"

I have so many, BUT if I have to post just one I'll go w/ "What A Friend We Have In Jesus".

What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer

Oh, What peace we often forfeit
Oh, What needless pain we bear
All b/c we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer

Load up on guns, bring your friends
It's fun to lose and to pretend
She's overboard and self-assured
I know, i know , a dirty word

Hello, hello , hello how low,
Hello, hello, hello,how low,
Hello, hello, hello...

With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid, and contagious
Here we are now , entertain us
A mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido,
Yeah

I'm worse at what I do best
And for that gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end

Hello, hello, hello, how low
Hello, hello, hello, how low
Hello, hello, hello

With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now entertain us
A mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido,
Yeah

And i forget just why i taste
Oh yeah, i guess it makes me smile
I found it hard, it's hard to find
Oh well, whatever, nevermind

Hello, hello, hello, how low
Hello, hello, hello, how low
Hello, hello, hello

With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contageous
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido,

SCREW YOU, WE'RE FROM TEXAS

Ray Wylie Hubbard

I got on my cowboy boots, jeans
And Hawaiian shirt, mirrored sunglasses
And a mobile phone
I guess I look like some Port Aransas
Dope dealer that's out on bail
Just trying to get home
Well I ain't in jail and I got me a guitar
Got a little band that's hotter than a rocket
Sometimes we're sloppy
We're always loud, tonight we're just ornery
And locked in the pocket

So screw you, we're from Texas
Screw you, we're from Texas
Screw you, we're from Texas
We're from Texas baby, so screw you

Now I love the USA
And the other states
Ahh, they're OK
Texas is the place I wanna be
And I don't care if I ever go to Delaware anyway
Cause we got Stubbs, and Gruene Hall and Antone's, and John T's
Country Store
We've got Willie and Jacky Jack, Robert Earl, Pat, Cory, Charlie and me
And so many more.

So screw you, we're from Texas
Screw you, we're from Texas
Screw you, we're from Texas
We're from Texas, screw you

Sing it with me--
Screw you, we're from Texas
Screw you, we're from Texas
Screw you, we're from Texas
We're from Texas, screw you!

Now Texas has gotten a bad reputation,
Because of what happened in Dallas and Waco
And our corporations well they are corrupt
And the politicians are swindlers and loco
But when it comes to music my friend
I believe these words are as true as St. John the Revelator's
Our Mr. Vaughan was the best that there ever was
And no band was cooler than the 13th Floor Elevators.

So screw you, we're from Texas
Screw you, we're from Texas
Screw you, we're from Texas
We're from Texas, screw you!

Screw you, we're from Texas
Screw you, we're from Texas
Screw you, we're from Texas
We're from Texas Screw you

Screw you, we're from Texas
Screw you, we're from Texas
Screw you, we're from Texas
We're from Texas Screw you

We're from Texas Screw you...
