Competing against mostly a 5a and 4a field, Jasper placed fourth this past weekend with 77 points. Jasper should be ready to compete for first by the time district rolls around.


Point standings --
1. Port Arthur Memorial 176; (5a)
2. Aldine 105; (still 5a ?)
3. Beaumont Ozen 92; (4a)
4. Jasper 77; (3a)
5. West Orange-Stark 64; (4a)
6. Beaumont Central 63; (4a)
7. Houston Smiley 37; (4a)
8. Beaumont West Brook 27; (still 5a ?)
9. Vidor 18. (4a)

Is Jasper or Atlanta faster this year?

Having seen Jasper's times and Atlanta's time, it is clear that Atlanta has the superior relay squads this year.

I remember at the Burnet/Jasper game this year the Jasper kids were way faster than last years it appeared...

I think they placed more with depth than truly great speed. They do have a very young team so they have a lot of kinks to work out. And early times can be very misleading. What they run at district, regional, and state is what really counts. Here is a link to the results:

If you are just talking about overall team speed, then that was probably true from what I have heard.
