Is that short for discussion? Or was discuss the name of your frisbee?

how far are you throwing it now? I am throwing it 50 foot and the discus my PR is 174 5inches. But i know i can do better than that.

Diboll_Lumberjackk

wow a soph huh, well i havnt been practing that much eaither cause i pulled 2 tendons in my right fore arm and it hurts so much when i throw the shot but its fine when i throw the discus. so it healing and i feel like i could hit a good 55 if i tryed really hard. i think ill be at 180 or more in discus by the time district gets here. i cant w8

BIG BLUE DEFENSIVE END
03-17-2004, 10:36 PM
Well, good luck, you sound like you're a pretty big, strong, and have great agility to be able to throw the discus that far as well as the shot. I'm impressed. The last guy I saw throw the discus in the 180s was Freddie Cates several years ago at the Rockdale Relays. I hope to be able to throw that far one day...maybe one day I will be able to. I'm just tired of doing pole vault because I was clearing higher heights last year than I am this year and have decided that it's time to dedicate myself to throwing because that's going to be my future in track.

Diboll_Lumberjackk

well im not really all that big. i weigh about 195 and im 6'2 but i bench 360 and squat 500 i think. im just coming off of powerlifting seasson so that helped out my distance alot. i just have a really quick spin. ive been practicing all the way back since 7th grade. my soph year i was throwing the discus 135 and shot 40 i think. so you can deffintly get to 180 just keep on lifting.

What did you throw at district last year? I do not remember seeing anyone from Diboll at regionals last year in shot.

Thats because we had those monsters from jasper infront of us. Like the one that threw 62 at state and his partner that threw 55 at our meet and the lil running back threw like 50 so it was pretty allmuch wraped up. i threw like 40 last year. But i went for discus, it was kinda funny i got second in the disc i would of had first but one of those big guys from jasper gets up there and has no tecnique at all and just chunks it out there bout 158 not even trying.

Yeah, I used to enjoy pole vault, until I came down into the pit box a week ago and hurt my back. I think that my pole vaulting career is pretty much gone now because I'm going to be too big to do it pretty soon. I keep improving my shot distance on a daily basis, so hopefully I'll get around 48' by district. Good luck Lumberjackk, glad to see there are some throwers on this website.

Diboll_Lumberjackk

just keep on working, remember the key to throwing is all in the legs, most people think you just have to have uper body strength but its a combination of tech and lowerbody strength, Throwing is like my fav hobbie. im hoping to go to state and win in 3a div. in discus. i know i proly dont have a shot in the shotput, but ill still try to get 60 by the end of the year. only 8 weeks till the state meet!!

Well considering iv only been to 1 meet 159'7 in discus in Shot 50'2. Weird though in warm-ups i threw 175. Shot like 55.

I always throw farther in warm-ups than I do when it comes right down to it. I guess i choke or something. I'm nowhere close to being as strong as you are in this point, and having basketball athletics for 4 months and not lifting but about 3 times during that time period didn't help much of anything except for my coordination and speed. I'm getting it back though, slowly, and it'll be close to the end of the season when I'm stronger than I was in football. Either way, good luck Lumberjackk.

thanks man just keep on lifting, and throwing, i went and threw today at my track cause this week we had spring break and i just got back and i threw 3, 165's and a coulple 160's but thats with not doing anything during spring break at all. so its all good when ever we get back next week we will start working out and getting back in the groove and maybe ill get 170 and the next meet in splendora. next friday im hoping, my hand is still hurting i couldnt throw shot to day. but good luck and everything man.

Go here if you wanna see the meet results that i threw in last week, it was my first meet so its all good

Diboll_Lumberjackk
03-21-2004, 03:27 AM
yea, the feild events were pretty tough, thats the only thing i do is field events, that guy that got 3rd in that meet, last year he threw 160 at our meet. he choked bad cause he saw me throw and saw me hit 175 in warm ups it was funny but he should of threw farther than that.

Diboll if you are so good then why havn't i seen you in any of the results or the Texas Track and Field. Also it doesn't metter what you do in practice it matters what you do on meet day. Also are you a Senior? Im not tryign to pis you off or anything im just saying. Big Blue DE what wwere your throws again and what were your lifts? (bench squat and incline) I know a Soph from Graham thta hit the 150+ in a meet this week.

All of this talk about throwing discus is making me want to throw again.

BIG BLUE DEFENSIVE END
03-22-2004, 08:52 PM
Well, my farthest throw in the shot was 44' 6", and my farthest throw in the discus was up around 120, but I really haven't emphasized throwing the discus, and I really started back up today. I can bench somewheres from about 250 and up, squat in the upper 300s, but I'm not sure because I haven't maxed in squat in a year, and I've never maxed out on incline. There was a 4 month stretch when I was in basketball and we NEVER lifted, so that hurt me a lot. I'm a sophomore.

Old Tiger
03-22-2004, 09:03 PM

Diboll_Lumberjackk
03-25-2004, 06:26 AM
130 as a sophmore ewwwk man i did terrible i beat out this guy from Hudson who only pressed 130 i spinned an nailed a 131'2 to win a trip to the regional meet where ppl like brian robison threw like 210' an some others in the 170's yikes. Also in shot i spin people are amazed to see that lol not many spin in shot.

Diboll_Lumberjackk
03-25-2004, 12:05 PM
My Bench press is about 400, and my squat is 500 , and my dead lift is 520. But that isnt anything compared to promise from fairfield. hes like in 600 in squat and dead, but i got em in the bench press.

bubba_chuck_34
03-25-2004, 10:10 PM
Thats pretty impresive lifts. How are your chances to get a trip to state. Yeah I made it to regionals last year as a frosh and threw against the 1st and second place in state. I also spin in the shot and it does suprise people. Whatsyour height and weight. Who all is in your region.

Diboll_Lumberjackk
03-26-2004, 09:19 AM
i am 6'2 and i weigh about 200 pounds and im a sr. yea the spin in shot gets alot of peoples attention. we have people like fairfield, rockdale, diboll (thats us) marlin gatesville. i went last year and i missed state by 4 inches and i got 7th. we had 4 people throw 148 and ther was a 148 8 148 6 148 3 148 0 1st and second were 167 165, 3rd was 150, i think i have a decent chance at gettin to state, i threw 183 in practice the other day. I saw somthing amazing yesterday, and 8th grader throw 152'1/2 it was awesome to see that and 8th grader throw that.
