who's turn is it?

PhiI C

Was it because the original store had 21 flavors in 1945?

District303aPastPlayer
06-08-2004, 11:57 PM
baskin robins doesnt hold all 31 flavors in their cases all day.. what they do is have a set number of ice cream and a set number of yogurt/sherbert selections...

Old Tiger

Sans Couth

NOPE, and NOPE

Old Tiger
06-09-2004, 12:15 AM
what is the ?

Sans Couth
06-09-2004, 12:18 AM
OK,

I am gonna give the answer because I have to get back in bed.

Most B&R stores carry 32 flavors instead of 31 at any one time because their ice cream case is rectangular, and therefore they have 2 rows of 16 buckets.

Old Tiger
06-09-2004, 12:19 AM
i was just about to post that....:D

Sans Couth

That 31 flavor answer made sense to me this morning!!

I think it is old tigers turn, but I just had to add, while I was searching for the answer last night, I saw where Baskin Robbins at one time developed "Ketchup Ice Cream"!!!!

YUCK!!!!!!!!!!

sinton66

Most history accounts of the story refer to him as Captain William Driver. Even the City of Corpus Christi website does.

1824---Captain William Driver, commanding the brig Charles Doggett, calls the handcrafted 24-star flag given to him on his 21st birthday in honor of his becoming captain of his own merchant ship "Old Glory." For 13 years he will sail around the world under the flag's protection.

Phil C

You are all cold except Sinton 66 was starting out on the right track with his first answer even though it is not close enough. I will give you hints and that should be a giveaway in order to keep the game going and not tie up the thread. Read the question again carefully. 1. $3,000 2. Marlon Brando

Ranger Mom
06-10-2004, 09:51 AM
$3,000 was what he was paid for the movie.....the Marlon Brando hint has me stumped though!

Phil C

Ok Ranger Mom I will make it easier. Marlon Brando in The Godfather.

Phil C

No.

Sans Couth
06-10-2004, 06:31 PM
Did he sell his rights to future royalties to Marlon Brando for $3000.00 ?

Sans Couth
06-10-2004, 06:37 PM
Did he agree to do the part for $3000.00 after Brando turned the part down?

sinton66
06-10-2004, 06:52 PM
Since it was his first gig, I'd guess he agreed to the $3000.00 with no consideration for residuals.

Phil C
06-10-2004, 07:40 PM
Sinton 66 is close enough! Good Job. He was not a big star yet and he needed money for the rent so he accepted the part for $3,000. It was a decision he said he regreted because they offered him 10% of the gross if he didn't accept the $3,000. He thought the movie was going to bomb so he took the money and ran. Little did he know that he could have made $2M on that movie. Of course it was shortly after that the he starred in tv's Wanted Dead or Live Series and later went into movies and became a big star and money was no longer a problem for him anymore.

Lets do a football trivia question.

Ricky Williams of UT fame wore the jersey number 11 for several years before switching to 34. He also wore one other number for ONE GAME ONLY. What was this other jersey number and why did he wear it?

Sans Couth

If you can't watch it at that time then record it or get someone to record it for you. That being said I will ask another question that should be easy. Way to go slpybear. You are on the clock.

For the rest of you here is the answer.

Screamn' whitewall tires and a guitar by his side
Billy's got the fever as he rolls on thru the night
Some were born to listen, some were born to play
He was lightning on the highstrings and thunder on the bass

Chorus

He could play it high, he could play it low
He could make it cry, he could make it moan
He knows when push comes to shove
the proof's in the pickin'

In a smoky little tavern just off of Bourbon Street
Tobacco stained fingers waited on the down beat
Conley was the master, the undisputed king
He'd ruled the town for thirty years
with an army of six strings

Chorus

Sometimes after midnight Billy drives through New Orleans
Straight to the French Quarter there's a man he has to see
The music is a raging like a city that's on fire
Billy felt just like an altar boy at the feet of a higher power
Conley watched as Billy walked across the room
Opened his case and started a tune
The whole club was silent and the lights were turned down low
Billy stepped up on the stage and Conley whispered “Go son, go …”

Chorus

Conley held his hand up, no one made a sound
And he handed Bill his old archtop and stepped into the crowd
Billy played it soft, Billy played it sad
Then he made it talk and in came the band
Soon the room was shaking before Billy's wall of sound
And just a block off Bourbon Street, a new king's been crowned.

Chorus

I would have thought the Mig-25...but that doesn't fit in the blanks!!

sinton66
06-14-2004, 07:06 PM
If you're talking US aircraft, it would be the F15 Eagle(For speed). If we're talking the world, hands down it's the Mig25 Foxbat. If we're talking about air superiority, again hands down, it's the F-14 Tomcat.(Speed ain't all there is to it.)

(Reconnisance version Foxbat B has the Guiness record at 2,110 mph, or about mach 3.2).

Sans Couth
06-14-2004, 07:31 PM
I always thought the F-15 was the fastest. I think the F-14 is the tomcat. Is the F-18 faster than the F-15? And if it is, then my next guess is the F-18. but I don't think it is faster. Maybe the "in squadron service" has something to do with it.

You're right, the Tomcat IS the F-14. I corrected my post. Can't believe I made that mistake, I'm probably the biggest fan in the world of the Tomcat. I believe the Eagle is still considered the fastest among American fighters. I don't think the 18 is faster, it's wayyyyy heavier.

Ranger Mom
06-14-2004, 07:38 PM
According to what Slpy wrote......it HAS to end in a "5"!!

sinton66
06-14-2004, 07:53 PM
It may be possible that the F-14's replacement will earn some honors too. The Navy is banking everything on the new FA-18 E/F Super Hornet which will replace the Tomcat.

Sans Couth
06-14-2004, 08:12 PM
How about the X-15?

Which I believe is and F-15 on steroids.:D

sinton66
06-14-2004, 08:14 PM
x-15 wasn't a fighter. The Blackbird is the actual fastest American aircraft, but it's not a fighter either. It is still the only plane in the world that can CRUISE at mach3 plus.

Sans Couth
06-14-2004, 08:21 PM
Well I look forward to hearing the correct answer. I still think it is the F-15. The F-15 used to be the only fighter that could accelerate going straight up.

What was that little jet the instructor flew in "Top Gun"? At least the movie made it look very fast.

slpybear the bullfan
06-14-2004, 09:22 PM
Well, I think RangerMom answered correctly...

IT is the Mig-25... (Sorry about the Blanks... I was thinking M-25!)

The little jet the instructer flew was a SkyHawk... Very definitely not a speedster, but manoeuverable as heck.

Fastest US still goes to the F-15. It is simply an incredible Air Superiority fighter... but the F-22 has to be the champ.

Voyager, airplane

the first airplane to circumnavigate the earth nonstop on a single load of fuel. Designed by Burt Rutan and flown by Dick Rutan and Jeana Yeager, Voyager took off from California on Dec. 14, 1986, and, after a 25,012 mi (40,269 km) flight, landed in the same place nine days later. The plane weighed only 1,858 lb (845 kg) without fuel but needed a wingspan of 110 ft (33 m) to lift its two pilots and 1,200 gal (4,560 liters) of fuel off the ground. Only a few gallons remained at the completion of the journey.

Ranger Mom
06-14-2004, 10:58 PM
Hmmm....there is no way, with the answer I have, that this plane stayed airborn for that long without refueling....it had to refuel in the air!

I read something some time ago about a Russian plane that set the record for longest continuous flight. That was the quoted record. Probably was a long time ago. I think Air Force One can stay up for like 36 days or something like that now. You didn't qualify on a single fuel load, right?

Well I just got off the phone with someone down there in dispatch. I was able to smooth talk my way into getting him to take the time to look up the product number for me, as everyone in sales had left for the day. Unfortunatly, even though I was able to waste 10 minutes of some dispatchers time, our search ended in vane. I was informed that all of the product numbers begin with a 5.

I did however have this guy convinced that I was a wholesale buyer from East Texas that was bidding a job for the Highway Department, and would be needing several thousand units of product number 18343-2 So I should get some sort of credit for my effort.:D
