If you SUBSCRIBE to threads, that will cause you to get email notifications of replies.

You can change the defalt so that you never recieve them. I cannot remember which page that option is on though.

no no no no no. You don't understand. If you say don't send them and then subscribe to a thread you will get them anyway.

How do you not subscribe to a thread...by just not posting at all?

In your profile, you can choose to auto-subscribe or not. If yes, you will subscribe to any thread you post on. If no, you have to manually subscribe by clicking on the subscribe button if you wish to subscribe. However, when you do, you will then get email notification about replies to that thread. Sort of like it over-rides your "no" for that thread.
