I heard part of a sports radio show yesterday that was talking to former Greenwood student, Ashley Awalt. Ashley played on the softball team that went to state a couple of years back. The purpose of the interview was because she is going to Poland in a few months to compete in a World Championship Powerlifting tournament. I was stunned, this girl is tiny --- 4'10" and barely over 100 lbs. I don't know anything at all about lifting - but my husband says she lifts 900 lbs, which I assume is the total of the different lifting events. Evidently she is the only girl from Texas competing in this tournament.

I thought that was pretty impressive and found this link about her on an A&M website.

Someone once told me that colleges look for powerlifters with small bodies and short arms. I don't know if that is correct but it sounds correct. The shorter the arms the shorter the lift.
