This position is an optional defensive position in college volleyball and has not yet but might someday be adopted for Texas HS volleyball. You can get more information on it at http://www.volleyball.org/rules/libero.html
The good thing about this position is that a person that plays great defensive but may lack offensive skills could get to play and contribute to the team and maybe earn a scholarship.
