the best iv ever seen was llanos a few years ago, they would turn off all the lights and the drill team used glow in the dark sticks, it was neat but its really hard to explain so if anyone remembers it maybe they can do a better job tellin you about it than me  ...

Greenwood normally has a light show, but because of our 3 home game schedule this year, we didn't have one this time. The band members wear glow sticks and tape flashlights to their shoes and the flags tape them on their flagpoles. It looks pretty awesome when they are marching!

That may not have been the best show I've seen, but it sure is up there visually!!

Not High School, but during the 1979 Michigan-Ohio State game, sitting on the 50 yard line at Michigan Stadium. During Ohio State's performance former coach Woody Hayes came out and dotted the i in the script Ohio formation. Over 105,000 fans gave him a standing ovation. It was priceless. Almost as amazing as watching Woody take out the Clemson player in the Gator Bowl in 78'.

Now that some other people have reminded me of it I would also have to say Llano's from the 1998 football season. Llano has gotten 1's at regionals for 25 straight years now.

My wife gets all atwitter when she sees Texas A&M's band (or any militery band for that matter).
My vote is for Rice U.

Kirbyville had a feature twirler in the late '70's (Bean I think) He was awesome.

Not 3A, but earlier this year I watched Willowridge's halftime show. Just amazing, especially the drum solos.

But I don't know how much I like having them wake me up every morning-they practice almost right outside my dorm! But it sure beats living on Northside and having to hear all the chaos going on at Northgate! :D

I must say that Burnet's show from last year was pretty awesome... wink

Have a great Wednesday, everybody!

I remember going to Bands of America contests, and we would get to see those awesome 5A bands. It's amazing what a huge budget can do to a huge marching group...sheesh! eek! I was always impressed by Winston Churchill and The Woodlands.

Have a great Wednesday, everybody!Amen to that, i think the only time that i've ever just got goosebumps was when i first heard

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to texas a&m university , home of the spirit and a&m's renouned core of cadets, the largest single source of reserves for our nations armed services. Below you on the playing field, the keepers of the spirit, the unparrellel men of kyle, this year 313 members strong."

Then i cried when i heard

"RECALL.....................STEP OFF......................ON....................HUL LABULLO"

The whoops! i heard after that made me have to check my drawers

i got to see many 5a bands march since i was in one until i graduated last year....the best band i ever saw was brazoswood last year...they looked like a drum core, it was amazing...they actually made the woodlands, westfield, and spring (the affluent marching schools in north houston) look like 2nd tier schools...i dunno someone really knew how to make a drill at their school...

Brazoswood was good last year, I couldn't really compare them to The Woodlands they were awesome last year. I dunno if you've seen any the 5A this year, the season is over for the most part, but Cypress Hill, I think that the name, it's one of the cypresses, and Spring have really good show's this year...but enough about that.

ABOUT Llano: Yeah, they have gotten 25 1st division at REGIONALS, but what about Area and state? Where did you place at each? Sorry, just some friendly rivalry to all those "things" in Llano

Sorry, just some friendly rivalry to all those "things" in LlanoI'm from Bandera and the question was what is the best band you've ever seen, and yes I saw Burnet's and I will still say Llano's from 1998 was much better. As far as how they have done at area and state, I have no clue.

My vote would have to be Burnet's last year's show. As the year went on, it kept getting better. The directors kept adding things for the band and the drill team. Very patriotic too!!

Don't know @ halftime shows, but on Tuesday night I attended a VB play-off game between Manor & Columbus (Manor won). The two young ladies from Manor who sang the Star-Spangled Banner duet before the game were AWESOME. I had tears in my eyes. Don't know who you were, but WOW! :)

Grambling-Prarie View without question...if we are talking high schools...

FW Wyatt
Dallas Carter
Dallas Kimball
Wilmer-Hutchins

those 4 come to mind quick..Hutch's band was REALLY good like in 1999 and 2000..they have kind of fallen off some...I gotta give Everman's band major props..they have really improved not only on the halftime show...but the music being played during the game....seems to get the students a lot more into the game when the play songs the students know and like! Plus I've always thought it was pretty neat to hear a rap song put into music..LOL
