Has Newton used many subs on defense this year? I know that Stephon has played some offense does he play any defense? I know him from baseball my son played for Jasper in the same age group.

Newton uses a lot of subs on defense, just depending on what we need at that time. Stiffon did not run the ball against BC, wish he would have, but he starts on defense at corner.

Hey Eagle fan's. If any of you are planning on going to the Fall Fest in Jasper Saturday go check out the photography contest. I entered a shot from last years China Springs game. It's pretty cool, the China Springs QB is about to get toasted.

Jason, do you play on the Jasper High School football team?

No I am a reporter for a local newspaper. I was at that game, but I mostly do Jasper. I don't get to go see other teams until the playoffs, which always seems to be Newton and Burkeville.

oct 18th eh.....i would like to go see that one eventhough its about a 3-4 hr drive.....hmmmm who will be the home team? "Dog house?" who owns it? jasper or newton? I'll ask directions later. Forney is probably playing ferris or somebody that week, not even worth going to.

Surfspike, Jasper will be the home team. Once you get to Lufkin, take 69 South. When you get to Zavalla, turn left at the flashing light. That will be hwy 63. 63 will deadend into Hwy 190. Take a left and go east. When you get to the second light take a left. The landmark at the light will be Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital. The first stop sign you come to will be Houston Street. Turn left there. Go to the first street on the right and turn right. The stadium is at the end of that street. A piece of advise. Get there early. The game starts at 7:30 on the 18th. The parking in the area is terrible.

yes i played football newtongal we had the in 89 we had the best collection of backs to come through newton. james mclemore, anthony jenkins, cesario brooks and brian foster. if we would had a more aggessive style of defense like they run in newton today we would have had a state championship in 89. we lost to mexia 14-13 because jessie watson missed the extra point. mexia went on to win the championship. does anyone remember that game

I dont think that was the best collection of backs to come through newton. I rank them 3rd, behind the 98 backs of Clifford Dean, LaGerald Jackson, Willie Farr, and Kevin Watson and the 94 backs of Brian Samuel, Raymond Thomas, and Nick Foster. But it is just my opinion.

I blocked for raymond Thomas and I watched James Mclemore and Ceaser play and I think that J.B. and company were pretty good and they probably were the best group that came through. I know they used to excite me when I watched them. I tell you what though, if raymond was playing now he would be hard to stop. He is huge. He looks like a professional bodybuilder lol. The backs Newton has now with Sam, Ty, and Stephon aint bad neither. It is very hard to single out a group of backs that was the best because we always have good backs.
