It's gonna have to be really good, cause most of us were spoiled by Friday Night Lights.

How does it compare to that one?

its not as thick, its a novel, not a true story... talks about a stories coach of Messina High name Rakes.. and how he led his team to "The Streak" of 84 consecutive wins, a couple of shut out state title seasons... the jist of the book is that he is dying and all his former players show up to pay homage...

I just bought BLEACHERS for my husband. He and my son are both reading it and think it is AWESOME if you are a high school football &/or John Grisham fan.

I saw it in HEB today, and almost bought it...now I wish I had. I haven't read Friday Night Lights, but I heard about that one last night at the football game- I'll have to check them both out! Thanks! I love a good book almost as much as a good football game- so when you put them both together. . . eek!

My wife brought it home for me to read......couldn't put down. Lots of inside type stories. I would recommend it....especially to anyone that has played high school ball.

So is it Friday Night Lights-like? FNL's had more about the personal lives of the people from Odessa that weren't even involved in football than it did real football (though it was a very good book)...

Is there more focus on football and their players, games etc...???

Appreciate the critique. Being a fan of John Grisham and a bigger fan of Texas High School football, I will definitely check it out.

ttt....Just finished listening to it. If you were ever mentored by a coach of any kind this book will more than likely hit home.

On my way to Wal-Mart--will pick up a copy for myself and then five more for the football fans in my life. Great little "love" gifts! Thanks for letting us know!

I just finished it. I listen to many books on tape since I drive almost 1000 miles a week to and from work.

i think it was set in texas... if you think about the settings of the book, and the main schools mentioned... State, Tech and A&M...
