Going into the top of the fifth, Sinton's up 14-0. Adrian pulled from the mound after the third, but hits a 2 run homer in the fourth. One more at bat for Fal.

I don't know if I agree with the Fal Coach on starting Gomez in game 2 instead of Game 1 against Alaniz. I know he isn't as good of pitcher as Alaniz, but that has to be a slap in the face to Gomez, that his own coach didn't have enough confidence to match him against Alaniz. It is probably a smart move by the coach, but I would have a hard time doing that to my ACE, what a confidence drainer.

Chris, I agree. However, Jason Adams (Sinton #2) is no slouch either. State Tourney MVP and won the title vs Forney last year. Guess Salinas may see it as six of one, half dozen of the other.

Hey, thanks 66 and everyone else for the updates... I was kinda checking up on here while watching the Spurs game. I'm saying this a little late, but way to go, Pirates. You guys are awesome and have done a great job of representing both District 30 and Region IV. You know your boys from Ingleside will be pulling for you, now go out and win another State Title. Pitcher for FAL(Gomez) had Sinton off balance all nite with off speed curves. Sinton just scratched it out in the end. Congrats to Fal for a hell of a game. Go Pirates!!

A side note...tonight's attendence (sp?--ok, fatigue is starting to set in) at Aviator field was 3,485. Saw some people from Odem, Mathis, Moody, Miller, Calallen, etc. Don't know who they were supporting :D but it was good to see all these folks from the surrounding area out to watch good baseball!

That 2nd game was tough. Bobby Gomez did a fine job for 6 innings. He had 9 K's & went 3 up/3 down in the 2nd & 6th inning (that 6th inning was scary). We stranded 7 batters & had 6 errors and left the bases loaded twice! eek! In the 7th inning you could see that he was hurting...he kept rubbing his left thigh. He & the Jersey's played a good game & had a great season! Congrats! :)

Man oh Man! What a great game by both teams. I am glad we don't have to have a third game on Saturday at noon in the heat. This was sure a busy post last night but it is great to have the updates for those unable to get to the game. I am glad I was there.

Does anyone know how they match up the teams for the semi-finals in Austin - Region I vs. Region II, etc.?

We talked about this last week. Here's what I learned.

They take the winning percentage for all four teams. The two teams with the top percentages become the #1 and #2 seeds. The other two are put in a hat. #1 seed gets to draw. The other two get stuck with each other.

That's a little strange! If they are doing that, then they should just seed all four teams with 1 playing 4 and 2 playing 3. I was just curious as I couldn't find out any information on this subject!

Seems fair to me. As long as 1 and 2 are not paired up I think it is just fine. But when you think about it, there is not that big a difference in the final four. All four teams are going to be great. :D
