Class 3A Countdown: No. 3 Decatur
Coach not satisfied after 12-1 season
02:21 AM CDT on Sunday, August 17, 2003
By GRAHAM WATSON / The Dallas Morning News
Decatur coach Kyle Story doesn't look at his team's success last season as a one-time deal. The Eagles posted a 12-1 record.
Story laments last season's final loss to Sweetwater. Decatur found itself on the 2-yard line trying to push the ball in after a long completion late in the fourth quarter. Sweetwater held its ground and preserved the 24-21 win.
"We were right there," Story said. "I think they stopped us on the half-yard line and then the game was over. It was close."
Story is excited about his team's chances this season because all the skill players are back, including running back Andrew McKinney and quarterback Chandler Dane.
"We don't look at last year as just one good season," Story said. "We've been there, and we know what it takes to get back and even further. You never know what can happen."
