Ennis QB, Graham Harrell was off all night: underthrowing and overthrowing his receivers..., even a couple of critical interceptions. Marlin's secondary was all over the Ennis receivers-all night.

This has got to be the biggest upset of the year so far. Congrats Marlin!

Marlin walks into Ennis and beats the 2 time defending 4A state champs who beat Denton Ryan earlier...UNREAL

Marlin must have used their speed to a great advantage against the Ennis defenders. They ought to really go up in the polls.

Ugly, ugly, ugly game. Ennis had more turnovers in this game than they have had the last 20 games combined and had almost as many penalty yards as offensive yards. Terrible game by Ennis. A few more games like this and they may be sitting home come November. On the other hand, if Marlin can string about 10 more games just like this one together, then they'll definately be playing come December.

Burnet's squeaking by Marlin last week looks a lot better now.

So if Burnet beat Marlin, and Marlin beat Ennis, and Ennis beat Denton Ryan, then does that mean that Burnet...

Bring on Lufkin.

Other than their game with Mart, Marlin has played a tough pre-district schedule and come out of it showing that they are ready to make a strong post season run. Who knows maybe Marlin and Burnet will have another opportunity to meet again on a neutral field.
A lot has been said about Marlin being a 3a school, beating a powerhouse like 4a Ennis. But for those who are not aware this is a small 3a school, I think less than 450 enrolled.
3A ROCKS! 3A ROCKS! 3A ROCKS!
Maybe a season of "upsets" like this one will finally give smaller schools some respect and recognition from sportwriters and more importantly, Colleges and Universities. I think people who are knowledgeable and dedicated to 3A football, like those who frequent this site, are well aware of how much talent goes unrecognized from these "smaller" schools. Can I get an Amen?
Good job Marlin!

This is somewhat surprising, however it's not unbelievable. Marlin has the quality athletes it takes to play with the best of the best. They are very well coached and play extremely hard. I would assume by reading the post game write ups that Ennis took them lightly and got a rude awakening. The Harrell kid is a great Qb, but it sounds like he was off all night. Congratulations to Marlin. What a huge win. This is definitely something to build upon. The Marlin program has just legitimized itself across the state of Texas. They played Burnet right down to the wire and come back after an emotional loss and defeated Ennis. This is a great testament to the character of coaches and players at Marlin.
