I guess Sinton isn't too "high" on the baseball team today. Looks like the maryjane bug has caught up with them.

If there is a silver lining to all this none of the players involved were starters.from what I have heard three of the players were actually smoking the crap.I believe 2 were seniors the rest frosh and sophs.Hopefully there won't be any more smart-ass remarks about this mess.Remember it's in your school also. They just ain't been caught yet!

School admin says they think 8-10 kids were involved. Article in Corpus paper doesn't say names or ages. Admin says they will have it sorted out by the end of the week. See www.caller.com. (http://www.caller.com.)

Tough break for Sinton. Im sure this does happen at other schools also. Hopefully you guys will overcome this. Good luck this year.

Thanks Tiger, I'm sure Sinton will overcome this. Head baseball coach is one of the best. I'm sure he's taking this kind of hard, but he is a class act, and I for one have all the faith in him. If indeed no starters were involved, they will put this behind them.

You'd be surprised how many people I've talked to MY age who have told me bad things like what happened to Sinton (some worse) about their own program... I've learned these both on Internet and in person... When you talk to most adults today they admit to doing their 'bad things' when they were in high school... It's only natural for people our age to do this sort of thing... They're not in a career, most do not have a job, they're just trying to have fun... Now I don't think it's right to try and balance that type of life with sports (esspecially at a school with a chance of winning it all)... But it will happen, we have to deal with it...

They played Austin Bowie thursday and were leading 5-4 before rain cancelled the game.Yesterday Bowie ended up winning make-up game 15-4.Sinton came back and beat Laredo Cigarroa 7-2.

03-04-2002, 09:25 AM
Read on www.caller.com (http://www.caller.com) that eight were suspended, only one had been a "projected" starter. Thought they did pretty good against Bowie, believe they will be ok rest of the season.

they'll be alright 66.they lost to The Woodlands in the consolation finals.Jason Adams hasn't pitched a game yet.they gain some players from basketball so they'll be pretty stout come district.

Yea,75, I agree. I don't think there's a whole lot of concern when you're losing to 5A teams. They should be able to beat a 3A team. Has Adrian gotten many innings in yet?
I haven't gotten to come down and see them play yet, but I hope to before long.

sinfan75

I think Alaniz has pitched a couple games.I ain't seen em play either yet.A buddy of mine seen em play and said they look real good.

Calallen tournament starting today should tell us something. Hope Sinton does well.
Really would have liked to see this one, but can't.

I would sure like to see Sinton and Bridge City make the final four tournament in baseball also!

sinton66
03-08-2002, 09:08 AM
Old Cardinal, that would be something wouldn't it! Would definitely mean both schools had a great year. Who are the top teams in R3?

sinton66
03-12-2002, 09:04 AM
Calallen tournament not so good for the Pirates. Heard they started a couple of freshman pitchers and dropped two games the first day. Came back on the second day and beat one of the SA teams something like 17-5.

Old Cardinal
03-13-2002, 12:04 AM
I saw the Coaches poll-if I remember, Sinton is ranked #3 and Bridge City is ranked #7.

Update on Calallen tournament. Sinton went
3-2. Started district Tuesday against Mathis, haven't heard results yet. Old Card, Coaches usually have a pretty good feel for this sort of thing. I hope they're right. Your kids have to be pretty good if the coaches are picking them high.

Beat Mathis 18-2. Face Taft Friday.

Finally got to see them play last Sat. At AP in about 35mph wind. Everyone had trouble with the ball, but Sinton won 2-0 to stay undefeated in district.

Sinton went up againist Ingleside (the only other team in 30-3A that was undefeated) last night. Great game. Alaniz was awesome. He had a shaky 1st inning, but once he calmed down he was on fire. Striking out 16, and giving up only 2 hits. They are now #1 in district with a 7-0 record and 23-4
overall.

Hey Sinton, good things happening down there!
What has happened at Ingleside? They used to be good in sports, whats going on there?

sinton66
04-11-2002, 08:27 AM
Ingleside is still making their presence known. They are one of the more competitive organizations in 30-3A. There are about five towns that constantly vie for the titles, Sinton, Mathis, Ingleside, Aransas Pass, and Odem. Sinton is nearly always at or near the top, and the rest seem to take turns every few years or so. Odem and George West both drop out of the equation and move down to 2A this fall. Both should do well there. In baseball this season, region 4 is going to be very tough to get out of. La Grange, Sinton, Yoakum, Bellville are all rated in top 10. Bishop should also be pretty tough. Playoffs are going to get very interesting.

That area is on the rise!!!
I hear also Orange Grove will be good coming up, any truth to that?

thanxs Sinton66 & Sinton Fan75 for the info.

sinton66
04-12-2002, 04:21 PM
Old buff, I don't know a whole lot about Orange Grove. They're in a different district. That district is usually ruled by Bishop. I know the last few years they've played football with Mathis on a regular basis in non district and Mathis has beaten up on them considerably. They have scheduled Sinton for a non district game this fall. If they thought Mathis was tough, wow, what are they gonna think of Sinton?

oldbuff78
04-12-2002, 04:39 PM
Hey, thanks for the info!!

sinfan75

Sinton Softball team took it on the chin this past week losing to Odem 3-2.Guess Coach Wilson was right when he said beating teams by 10 or more runs wasn't helping his team.In 11 previous district games the girls outscored their competition 128-21.

sinton66
04-17-2002, 08:59 AM
Well,I suppose even the best teams can drop one once in awhile. They should bounce back if they're as good as their rating says they are. Ranked #1 in the state in Girls Softball is a tall order to live up to. I haven't seen them play, but I'm hearing they are very strong.

sinton66
04-18-2002, 08:18 AM
One loss, and the girls coaches poll dropped Sinton Girls down to 7th. Apparantly the coaches don't think much of Odem.

sinfan75
04-18-2002, 03:00 PM
Well actually they lost not only to Odem but also lost to George West in back to back losses. They got back on track beating A-P 3-2.Sinton girls goin through a slump right now.

sinton66
04-19-2002, 08:02 AM
In baseball, be it boys hardball or girls softball, it would be pretty rare for any team to go undefeated for a whole season. How are the boys doing now?

sinfan75
04-19-2002, 06:37 PM
Boys doin well.I believe they're playin Ingleside tonight. This will be Sinton's big game here.Ingleside is VERY good and this game with a win would give the Pirates the district title.Very close the last time these two hooked up.

lounge lizard
04-19-2002, 09:41 PM
Playing George West tonight(4-19). Won't play Ingleside till next friday. Pirates own at least a two game lead on them. Saw them against Odem; looked like they were just going through the motions. Finally woke up in the fifth.

sinfan75
04-20-2002, 05:13 AM
Yep my bad.But Ingleside lost to A-P last night so if Sinton won They win District.

sinton66
04-22-2002, 07:33 AM
That's good to hear. Playoffs are gonna be tough! La Grange and Yoakum are hanging in and making it interesting. Region 4 will be well represented no matter who survives.

sinton66
04-23-2002, 08:20 AM
Sinton beat Odem after a lackluster start. Score was 6-5 to remain atop the standings at 20-4,11-0. Had to rally to win. Odem getting stronger. Odem only one game behind Ingleside in the district race. Sinton girls claim 1st seed in district.

sinton66
04-26-2002, 07:43 AM
Sinton 13-0, Ingleside 10-3, Odem 10-3. Sinton plays Ingleside tonight at 7:00pm.

The game tonight has been moved to 8p start time. (regional track meet - prelims) Is the rumor true that the ace pitcher from La Grange quit???

sinton66
04-26-2002, 12:08 PM
I did read that was confirmed on this board in the thread about LaGrange Rumor. Believe they said his name was Bailey. Apparantly they are still smokin' though, still at the top and winning games.

hey sinton66 and 75 i believe. What have yall be up to?? Long time since i have been in here. I was going to ask you if you have any info about football schedules from sinton or mathis? Let me know something keep in touch.

sinton66

Sinton beat Ingleside to go 14-0 in district.
have a bye for the first round, playing tune up games against Industrial and Gregory-Portland. M.Pirate, don't know if the schedules are set yet except for non-district. Haven't seen anything yet on the full schedule, how about you 75, you heard anything yet?

sinfan75
05-01-2002, 08:57 PM
Ain't heard none either.Sinton beat G-P 8-7 by the way.Freshman pitcher started the game and Jason Adams was the relief pitcher.

sinton66
05-02-2002, 08:17 AM
My bad, 2nd tune -up is against Bloomington, not Industrial. Play May 3rd. Posted all the R4 scores I could find on the region 4 playoff thread.

sinton66
05-06-2002, 07:48 AM
What do you think guys? Can Odem beat Bishop? They showed up fairly well against Gonzales. Sinton shouldn't have a whole lot of trouble with Fal. Best of three should favor Sinton.

sinfan75
05-06-2002, 08:13 PM
I'd rather see The first game in fal last two in Sinton. But I think Sinton should win the series.Look for this to go three games.Fals tough to beat at home.

sinton66
05-07-2002, 07:49 AM
Everybody should be tough at home, but if Bishop was able to bust 'em out from the title, Sinton shouldn't have a problem with them. By the way SinFan75, in case you didn't see it, Bailey is back on the team at La Grange.

sinton66

Best of luck Sinton Pirates!!! The journey begins tonight.
