LOL what a shock someone from Kennedale saying Harper..LOL

How about Taurean Henderson or DaBryan Blanton...heck how about Lonta Hobbs? He may end up being the best college back outta the bunch..too bad his high school team was terrible!

Are you looking for single season or overall best in the last 5 years? The five year timeframe makes this a little difficult, since most RBs only play for 2 or 3 years as a Varsity player. Call me a "Homer", but I would pick the Rex Harper/Gary Petty combination Kennedale had. Weldon Brooks has done a nice job of filling in when Gary left, but Petty was a bruising FB in the Mike Alstott mold.

Yeah Petty and Harper were a great combo. In film you would see Petty running with 2-3 guys hanging on his back and he would get "just a few more needed yards." Bodies everywhere! It was always fun to watch Petty cuz you knew someone was about to get lit up.

I have two: Jamario Thomas of Spring Hill and JOJO RAWLS OF Jefferson.

4a would have to be ADRIAN PETTERSON of Palestine.

DaBryan Blanton had 3 stud seasons...we are talking about over 5000 yards for his career...he led his team to a state title game...and an 11-1 season his senior year...that Forney team woulda won state any other year had they not run into Everman in Rd 2...Taurean Henderson also had a great career..leading his team to a state title and state semi-final appearance...Harper's legacy will be judged by how Kennedale does now..

I have two picks here:

Homer pick = Bernard Scott who had over 2,400 yards his junior year, them screwed up and was kicked off the team for off the field problems and therefore transferred to a 4A team (Wichita Falls High) his senior year. The district coaches in that 4A district voted to rule him ineligible because they didn't want to face him and he transferred purely for athletic reasons--violation of UIL rules. So he missed his entire senior year. He is the best back I have ever seen.

DaBryan Blanton otherwise.

this goes back 6 years....but la grange's lawrence dobbins was a major threat to break a run anytime...lead them to 1997 semifinals against the sealy tigers...had two long touchdowns in the leopards heartbreaking 24-14 loss to tj mill's tigers

In 3a, that would be DaBryan Blanton, hands down! All of those other backs were good, but Blanton absolutely dominated anytime he took the field. Forney only lost 3 games whenever he was on the field, and they were all playoff games. He was a blast to watch.

I'll jump in and say Taurean Henderson just because I got to play against him and he was just incredible. I can say that I did tackle him for a loss on one play!

who do yall think?shou've known kaorder would've thrown this question out there. One answer, plain and simple. I was blessed to broadcast his games for two seasons. It begins and ends with Blanton. His AVERAGE td run was 43 stinkin' yards. I'd venture to guess there hasn't been a player with faster football speed.

Two years ago we had a great running back in Marcus Charles. I don't how many yards he ran for in his three years as the Pirate running back, but I know it was more than a thousand each season. He had alot of speed and could make you miss with his moves.

I dont know if anyone remembers this duo a couple of years ago. But in LIberty, Texas, there was possibly one of the best rushing duos ever assembled in 3A. They were Tony Bua, and Reggie White, although their team had an early exit in the Playoffs against an excellent team in Newton. which they lost to by only 2 points, and that was Newton's smallest margin of victory in 2 years until that day.

However both were possibly some of the best to play 3A in quite a while.

Tony Bua still plays at Arkansas, and Reggie White went on to play at Oklahoma State, and was one of the top ten Running backs in the Nation according to ESPN in 2001, when he graduated.
Now he plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars, as a back up

another word on REX, everyone must remember he is not the "only" back as some schools have. He has been a tandem with the likes of Gary petty, Brandon Ross, Chris Morris, Weldon Brooks, and Jason Tomlison. Had he in his career been the "one man show" no telling how many yards, and points could have been accumulated. These factors alone would increase his output. Not everyone realizes he is rotated with other tail and wingbacks throughout each game. remember sometimes he might carry the ball only 3 or 4 times in a game, yet amass over 100 yards. Certainly not cutting down the other great backs which were mentioned, but did they also rotate in and out of the lineup repeatedly?

Blanton - Blanton - Blanton

You can take his stats and double them because he only averaged a half in probably 80% of his games. I can remember some of his games when he had 5 carries and over 200 yards and 4 touchdowns. His vision and speed was special to watch!

I have a name to throw in there...Montoya Brown of Daingerfield. Played on the state final squad and racked up over 2,000 yards his senior season. He is now plays at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas and has racked up several impressive statistics.

Blanton is not on the roster because he is too fast to get hurt playing football. He is on the track team, and will probably be on the next US Olympic team.

Is that fast enough?

yall are looking past a great talent who has a horrible line and really poor coaching, Jamal Williams of Rockdale is an unbelievable talent who should be up there with the best of them

Blanton ran a 10.3 100M in 2001 for the state title. Nobody was faster. I thought Jules Partee back in 1990 might have had the record but Jules ran a 10.4. That year, Jules was a RB and Kennedale could only go about 2 or 3 rounds deep in the playoffs. Only recently has Kennedale had that winning attitude.

Tauren Henderson defeated Bandera single handed a few years back. Dutsin " The Horse" Heep had a good year averaging over a 150 yards through the playoffs to a State Championship For Bandera.

That after resting two weeks after a Knee injury.

Jason Mathias was definitely not the best but certainly amongst the best with a very subpar O-LINE. He ran for 1,700 yds, 32tds, and ripped a Lake Worth defense who hadn't been scored on until the eighth game of the season against GR. In that game he ran for 260 yds and 3tds. He ran a 4.3 40 and bench pressed 300.

Hold on bleedgreen Kennedale had a winning attitude in the mid 80's under Dan Yokieley, with Coach Barrett as an assistant. They may have not gone deep every year but they had some good teams competing at the 2A level. Second Jules Partee is tied for the record in the 100m with Dabryan Blanton 10.30 seconds.
