This is really a pretty awful list, all things considered. There are some GREAT jobs on it, but the order is pretty out-of-whack and there are tons of omissions... Of course, this is the same site that ran a projected realignment that was one of the funniest, most incorrect and ill-logical things I've ever seen. Here's the list:

1
Midland Lee

2
Lufkin

3
Odessa Permian

4
Waco

5

6
Daingerfield

7

With over 1000 highschools in Texas it would seem to me a hard list to create.

WHAT ABOUT LONGVIEW AND ENNIS AND DALLAS CARTER. HOW IS PILOT POINT TOP COACHING JOB IN TEXAS??

WOS92

Pilot Point was 32nd... Ennis is an omission...
No offense to Bridge City fans, but they had like a 30-something year playoff drought before they dropped to 3A, and they missed out last year. I know they had title years in 3A in the 1960s, but their overall record is 144-177-7. In 4A, they only had one year that I can remember over .500. Their coach two years ago just up and resigned. No disrespect for the their program, but how is it #16?

WHAT ABOUT LONGVIEW AND ENNIS AND DALLAS CARTER. HOW IS PILOT POINT TOP COACHING JOB IN TEXAS??ennis hasn't always been a power....just in last few years. I think this list took tradition into consideration. I'm not quite sure about Carter though...but at the moment, Carter isn't even the best coaching job in DISD in my own opinion. Sedberry couldn't stand it there. I guess that is why he came back to greenville...(and leaving again!)

I'm trying not to be too much of a homer here and show some objectivity, but why isn't Jasper on that list?

WHAT ABOUT LONGVIEW AND ENNIS AND DALLAS CARTER. HOW IS PILOT POINT TOP COACHING JOB IN TEXAS??I think Carter is probably not on the list for the same reason that Bridge City IS on the list. Bridge City is a great place to raise a family if you are a football coach. The Dallas Carter school district is a great place to get killed in a drive by shooting. As for Pilot Point, why don't you ask the All Time Winningest Coach in Texas Football why you should coach there. It might have something to do with a .847 winning percentage over the past 25 years. From what I hear about football coaches, a lot of them like to win.

So then, with all due respect, why can't BC keep a coach?

Damn... PPHS fan's response for Dallas Carter was too funny. Scary also that it's true. Don't just look at the school's football team.
I was surprised to see that Stephenville wasn't higher. Good schools, great community support, and they will pay their HC/AD a good paycheck.

As of 1999, Daingerfield was the #4 team in winning percentage in 3A according to collier-sharp.com... If tradition has anything to do with it, then that would explain it. According to that site, Burnet was #117...

1. Childress 300 87 8 0.770
2. Cuero 298 97 7 0.750
3. Port Isabel 268 89 12 0.743
4. Daingerfield 283-97-7 0.740

Even with their down years, Permian is the most storied program in HS football in the U.S. ...

The only problem with jobs at traditional schools is expectations... They can break a coach before making one...

Take the D-Field job as a new HC, lose to D'Field's biggest rival and BAM... For sale signs put up in your yard by angry fans...

Gobbla2001

I'd knock Permian off of the list...

As far as tradition goes, I'd LOVE to have a coaching job there... But let's face it, T.J. Mills wasn't given long enough to turn the program around before he was toodaloo'd...

Permian wants results and want 'em now, before long they'll be firing coaches half-way through the first game of their stay there because THEY WANT RESULTS NOW...

It's gunna take a lucky (yet talented) coach to bring Permian back to the top... I don't think the problem is the coaches they're hiring, I think they're just a new group of kids in the school that aren't into football as much as Daddy, Uncle and Cousin were mixed with a community who wants results NOW...
