The Kennedale cheerleaders have recently started matching pushups to points scored after every touch down. Someone needs to get word to them to cancel this Friday's pushups against Carter Riverside. If not, I'll notify the ambulance to have oxygen standing by.

Yah, our cheerleaders had a tough time doing push-ups in '97...

Before the first district game they had to do 50...

Then for district they had to do 57, 56 (twice) 48 and 42...

Our district opponents' cheerleaders' push-up total against Cuero that year, 0...

poor carter hope kennedale at leasts scores 70 onem it would be crazy if they scored 80 but it can be done .rex harper tip my hat off to you braw

are these guy cheerleaders or girls? Most guys should be able to handle 80 pushups over a three-hour period, and I've seen some girls who can handle it too...Last year, our girls did fifty pushups per day in cheer class, and very rarely complained.

Say you score 56 points, which is 7 points on 8 scores and PATS...

That would be a total of (drum roll please): 252 push-ups on the night...

I believe last year our cheerleders did push-ups for the first 21 points....BUT, when we got over 21 they went to jumping jacks!!

Thanks Mom, I'll pass that along. If we score 70 points and make all PAT's, that will be 385 pushups. Jumping jacks....they can handle.

How do they do it?I don't know if this is the answer you were looking for but in Greenwood, they do 7 push-up for the first 7 points. If more points are scored they do push-up for the total score. If it was another 7 points, then it would be 14 push-ups, because that is how many points are on the board. That would make their total 21 pushups in 2 touchdowns!!

It's a cumulative thing!!

Mom, you must've been a cheerleader. I don't explain too well, do I? You're right....7+14+21+28+35+42+49+56+63+70= 385 if my TI calculator is correct.

Only problem....we didn't score many points so there were very few push-ups to be had!!

that's stupid.. pushups.. oh my gosh..i'm a cheerleader and after every touchdown or any time we score we to toe-touches....for every point we have on the score board... ours is logical but push-ups that's pretty funny!

I'm not sure they're even aware of that lil' push-up tradition.

I've seen some girls try to do this gag when the score gets run up. What usually happens is they end up doing something which barely resembles a push-up while giggling. It doesn't really matter though, it's not like anyone is checking them for regelation pushups. It's not Aggieland. Come to think of it this whole idea was probably some Aggie gag that has been copied and gone out of control.

This would probably be alot more effective if the Defense that allowed the score had to do the push-ups.

Our cheerleaders do push-ups after the game, based on the point spread. Last year after the Llano game, they were pretty tired after doing 49 (score was 49-0)...in the mud.

Tonight at Carter-Riverside game, the Kennedale girls started doing jumping jacks after the score hit 55-0. One girl showed me her muscles and they were actually pretty big.
