Bellville / Elgin score?

Elgin 10, Bellville 9 (8 innings)

Great baseball game tonight. Bellville looked to be the better team, but Elgin is one scrappy bunch, and they deserve all kinds of credit. Bellvile jumped up 4-0 in the 2nd, but Elgin clawed back in it in the 5th with a 5 run inning. They tacked on 4 in the 6th, making it 9-4 going into the 7th. But Bellville didn't give up, rallied with one out to put a run on the board and make it 9-5, then loaded the bases for Jess Buenger. He hit a towering shot over the right-center fence to chalk up a game-tying grand slam. Elgin wasted no time answering, #34, don't have a name, who homered deep earlier, led off the 8th with an opposite field blast of his own, and that would be the difference. Tremendous game, it's a shame someone had to lose.

Game 2 and 3* are Sat. in Bastrop at 2:00

Won't have to worry about a pitchers duel, should be plenty of runs scored once more.

I'll take the Brahmas in 3 games.

#34 is joesph brade. he played a tremendous game hitting 3-5 i believe and pitching 1 1/3 innings. elgin out hit bellville although bellville got on by plenty of free passes.

* game 2 starts a 1pm saturday not 2.

Thanks for the update! Barbers Hill will play the winner of this series. Sounds like both teams have some pretty big sticks. Good luck to both teams.

that Brade kid for Elgin hit 2 homeruns. The first one was a mssive shot over the green monster in center field. That ball may be still going.Elgin hit the ball hard all night. I think they had 13 or 14 hits.It was an exciting game

Incidentally, the Bellville Girls Softball Team beat Barber's Hill 6-1 (Last night) and 3-1 (Today) to advance.
