A few RGV tidbits that may come to pass that I've heard so far.

Brownsville Veterans Memorial - 5A D1 to 6A
Edcouch-Elsa - 5A D2 to 4A D1
Raymondville - 4A D2 to 3A D1
Los Fresnos - Currently 6A but....
Rio Grande City Grulla - 4A D2 to 4A D1
Port Isabel - ?!?!? Opt up possibility...

After Port Isabel played Brownsville Vets earlier in the season in non-district, word was received that they had "2400+ kids" at their HS, which is well into 6A numbers. I later on heard from 2 more sources saying the same thing.

Now, regarding Edcouch-Elsa and Raymondville. Both of them were very near the drop zone in the last realignment. EE by about 20 kids, and Raymondville by about 10-15. Both are rumored to still be losing kids to various other schools (IDEA, private, transferring to other ISDs, home schooling). If that is indeed the case and their numbers do drop, that along with a higher cutoff number will most likely see both of them dropping in classification.

Los Fresnos CISD is rumored to be building a 2nd high school. As to when that comes to pass, it may happen for the 26-27 alignment. Both Los Fresnos schools will most likely fall well into the 5A D2 range, as currently there's roughly 3,200 kids at Los Fresnos now. I'm assuming half of that number go to the new HS.

Rio Grande City Grulla are rumored to be building a 2nd middle school. That + rumored enrollment increases (transfers from Rio Grande City most likely?) may see RGC Grulla back in 4A D1. That just leaves....

Port Isabel. Currently 4A D2 and in a 4-team district with aforementioned schools Raymondville and RGC Grulla. If Raymondville drops and Grulla goes up, that leaves Port Isabel as the only 4A D2 team in the entire Rio Grande Valley region. Now...word is that Port Isabel is in the same boat as Raymondville in terms of lower enrollment numbers. There is a new private school in Laguna Vista (part of PIISD) that has taken a few kids from the HS. There have also been kids transferring away to Los Fresnos, Brownsville St. Joseph, and IDEA schools in the Brownsville area. Port Isabel's enrollment number last realignment was in the 590 range. I haven't heard anything "specific" regarding their current number though I've heard various estimates between 550 and 570. IIRC, the 4A/3A cutoff was 540 last alignment. If that number only goes up 10 to 550, Port Isabel most likely remains 4A D2. If it goes up to 555 or 560, then there's a very small chance Port Isabel drops to 3A D1.

So if Port Isabel does remain in 4A D2, the next closest 4A D2 school (assuming they don't drop back down to 3A) would be Bishop. After that, Robstown. That IS NOT CLOSE! It would be Port Isabel as the lone RGV team in a district full of Corpus Christi area teams. Port Isabel would have no choice but to opt up to 4A D1 to be in a district with RGV area teams La Feria, Hidalgo, Zapata, and Grulla assuming they go back up to D1. But if Port Isabel drops to 3A D1 (very small chance) they'll be in a district with some very familiar faces. Rio Hondo, Raymondville (assuming they drop), Lyford, and Progreso just to name a few.

4A D1/D2 Split Likely Above 900

If the D1/D2 split is over 900, there's a very strong chance both Kingsville and La Feria are on the D1/D2 bubble.

Another school to look for in 4A is CC London. They are growing fast and if they don't make the move from 3AD1 to 4AD2 this time around, it will definitely happen next time. The last couple of alignments their numbers have jumped and they are growing fast. Lots of housing is being built in the area.

2020 353
2022 472

CC London turned in 540. CLOSE, but still 3A for a couple more seasons. They'll definitely be in 4A for the following alignment.

Have some info for you.

RGC Grulla will remain 4A D2 and not opt up. Their # falls within current 4A D2 ranges.

Port Isabel will remain 4A D2 and not opt up. I know PI's number, but it hasn't been made public yet so I am not at liberty to say. It isn't low enough to be 3A for sure.

Edcouch Elsa turned in 1371, which is an actual INCREASE rather than the predicted decrease. They most likely remain 5A D2 unless the 5A/4A cutoff goes up astronomically.

Add La Feria to the 4A D1/D2 bubble, especially if the rumored D1/D2 cutoff goes up to 905 910 or 915.

La Feria turns in 901
RGC La Grulla turns in 908.

Both are on the D1/D2 bubble. Port Isabel really has to hope the D1/D2 cutoff is at least 910 otherwise PI ends up being the only 4AD2 team in the entire RGV and will most likely have no choice but to opt up to D1. Which is really unfortunate because Port Isabel is not too far away from having 3AD1 numbers.

Regarding Raymondville, I've heard "below 540". But nothing "exact" from them. So still speculation at this point.

Austin LBJ should have dropped to 4ad2 last realignment but they opted up to 5ad2.

I believe Austin ISD forced them to do it.
