To our surprise the game wasn't that close. We were cautiously optimistic going into this game. MH brought back 8 or 9 on both sides of the ball from a team that was one trick play from playing in the quarterfinals. We're kind of rebuilding after losing 4k+ in receiving yards and the middle of our defense.

Had some young receivers step up.
QB was 20/32 for 280 and 5tds.

We came out looking nothing like we did in our scrimmages vs Glen Rose and Aledo.

No pre-snap penalties and no turnovers. Overall a solid B+ for week 1.

I thought we looked good for a first game. I know they will do what needs to be done this week in practice and also be better prepared to deal with the second half cramps.

Heritage lost a heck of a coach when Wigs took off for Allen. His top assistant was promoted and coached his first game. I think they can be a playoff team in their new 5A D-II conference. This win will look better and better for SHS down the road, I think.
