Softball and baseball coaches that count scrimmages as official wins

Why do some softball and baseball coaches and teams treat their scrimmages as wins if they score more runs than the other team?

I've noticed this on some max prep team sites.

Scoop your best choice is to follow gamechanger they're usually run and approved by the team coach so the scores and stats are best bet for correct info in baseball/softball. Some portions of gamechanger is free but do monthly part to get the best info out of it.
