I will be going to Gatesville Thur. and Fri., we have a boy playing 7th grade football. Can anyone tell me if the 580 cutoff in Lampasas to Gatesville is a worthwhile shortcut? Thanks in advance for any info.

hsfan, welcome to the downlow. This isn't the member name I was looking for. How is your sons team doing? Why don't you post a link to your local paper so I can follow his progress. The area code on my end of the lake is 512, hope ya'll kept my number if not you can reach me at the store. I guess your son is playing on Thursdays which would allow you to still come up on the weekend. Let me know which weekend and I will let you know if Burnet is playing at home that weekend.ps. let me get you started as rated member.

bd0707, 580 is a shorter route, but once you take a left about 5 miles out of Lampasas you will be on a narrow two lane with some sharp curves in the roadway. (If you don't take that left you will end up in Kempner) When leaving Lampasas be sure and stay within the speed limit. DPS frequently patrols that first 5 miles. To get to the field, follow Hwy. 84 through Gatesville to the 8th traffic light, take a right, (Methodist Church will be on one corner, a bar-b-que place on the other) go down one block and the parking area is on the south end of the stadium.
