Remember when?

I remember when realignment day was on or around Halloween. My first memories of realignment was in October of 1968. All the athletes were called out of class to view the new realignment. Our principal was really into this stuff. Now snapshot day lands near Halloween. Do any old timers know when the snapshot day was back then?
