Corsicana would have been perfect (especially for me). I know Carthage enjoys playing in Corsicana and that would have been much closer for Lampasas. Not sure why unless it was booked.

Lampasas will get to see the best defense in 4A. Question is can Lampasas handle the speed rush and power of the Dawg D line and speed of the linebackers with the ability to cover the short pass. So far the Dawgs have shut down every DI receiver from 5A to 4A that they have faced.
I believe Lampasas will be the best offense the Dawgs have faced.
Both teams are in the semi finals because they have beaten everyone they have faced.

Will also add that the Lampasas Defense will be going up against an O line that is big, strong, and can dominate in run blocking and pass protection. Dawgs can run and pass equally well.
A name everyone has heard of Kelvontay Dixon. He can be a game changer.
Add in Kel Williams and the Lampasas secondary better have some race horses.

what is the point - that carthage is/are world beaters? Don't we hear that every year from an unnamed poster. Geez to look at that other board, the previous poster was correct, why should Lampasas even show up. Or do we just chalk this up to over enthusiastic fan support.

I must say I'm a little surprised by the poll. Is Lampasas really that good? I know it's really hard to compare different regions, but can somebody give any reason why they think Lampasas wins? I've seen Carthage first hand. They definitely look the part, and they have size, speed, experience, and the best coach in the business, in my opinion. I just want to know what Lampasas has so I can compare. Can anybody help?

From what I've read - if I had to pick an upset in one of the games (Lampasas vs Carthage or Springtown vs LaVega) it would be Lampasas beating Carthage. Just because I've read Carthage offensively is as good as the past and the defense, as good as they are, has to carry them. I don't think Springtown (or anyone who is left for that matter) has a chance vs LaVega though.

People say that but Surratt hasn't had an excuse to let the playbook loose (cliche I know) but true. If they would have put Dixon in the backfield more against MH, they would have scored 3 more touchdowns easily. We also have a couple of other rb with speed also that I'd expect to get more touches. Our starter is a jack of all trades.

Now as far as picking an upset, IF one was to happen, it'd be this game b/c no way in hell Springtown beats Lavega.

I honestly think Lavega/Carthage is the best playoff rivalry and if they meet next week they will blow the roof off the place.

To have that many passing TDs, methinks they must have a couple of speedsters. Region 1 teams are not really known for having a lot of players with blazing speed. Maybe Carthage will have a couple of DBs that can keep them in check. Lampasas will also have to contend with that huge D-line of Carthage. What's the QB's name? Is he a pocket passer? How does he do under pressure? Is he a dual-threat QB? Who are these receivers? Do they have a good running game? With those kinds of stats they must have some D1 talent, right?

I looked at some video of Lampasas on youtube. If that's what they are bringing it's gonna be a long night for them against Carthage, in my opinion. They appear to be more of an RPO type team, and their o-line doesn't look very big at all. They will likely have a lot of trouble getting any kind of run game going with the front 7 of Carthage, and the Carthage secondary is one of the strengths of their defense. I also think the Badgers defense will have a lot of trouble with the o-line of Carthage, and the speed of their WRs. I would be surprised if this game is even close from what I've seen. Of course, you never really know until they play against each other.

The difference in this game was Dixon making 3 contested huge catches where he just put athletes the DB. I don’t think he’ll do that to the same extent against LaVega.

Not trying to take anything away from either team, but I don’t think this Carthage team is that close to some of the teams they’ve had in the past. Just my opinion

.....this is all Greendawg's fault!.....

Yo CAM, answers take time:

Locally, they are most common in portions of West and South Texas although they occasionally are sighted in the eastern part of the state.

This Brit eats them, “Arthur Boyt thinks Dickson Wright is talking good gastronomic sense. He has been eating badger most of his life”

Depending on your point of view badgers either have:

a vaguely pleasant musky perfume,
a musky odour
just plain 'ol stink!
However, badgers do not usually smell as strongly as foxes. Foxes are very pungent indeed - sometimes this is what tells an observer that a fox is holed up in a badger sett.

They will bite; video evidence here:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Fkw0vHGiMN4

Badgers can indeed be kept as pets. The greatest success is had when
the badger is raised from infancy by humans. In the United States, the
legality of having a pet badger varies from locality to locality; many
urban areas have ordinances forbidding the keeping of normally-wild
animals within the city limits. Some states require a license.

Not as sure on La Vega last night either...they +6 in turnovers and only beat Springtown by 13.....Springtown in essence dominated the game
they had some bad penalties call back a score or two - their defense shut down springtown - were probably looking ahead a bit

Springtown's defense really shut their offense down as well...LaVega had the big touchdown run early by Walton and then their only real drive of the game was the start of the 2nd half...other than that it was the 2 defensive TDs...Springtown I believe had 26 first downs to La Vega's 8..

It's 14-7 and Springtown is driving and throws a pick six...made it 21-7 and turned the game IMO...Springtown fumbled late in the half at the LaVega 37 when they could have gotten points...when it was 27-14 Springtown moved to the 10 and threw an INT...Springtown surprisingly really controlled the game...I dont think LaVega played their A game but either Springtown is REALLY good or LaVega needs to play much better this week

Whitehead will be back next year but i heard lampasas graduates a bunch.

Don’t know if the JV and Freshman teams were any good but this team can be good again next year.

They might have the best QB in 4A and they’ve got a coach who is not afraid to let him sling it

Whitehead only really threw 2 bad passes that whole game and Carthage returned both for TDs.

I think he was used to getting away with those kind of throws against lesser competition and the dawgs punished him

Lampasas loses pretty much all their skill kids....I dont think their subvarsity teams were all that great...I think this was kinda their window

Lampasas was better than advertised.
I believe they could beat any 4A team including my Dawgs and Le Vega.
The QB is the best in 4A and they had a good defense. Their receivers were very good and their O line did a great job against my Dawg D line which I believe is the best in 4A.
The Dawgs won this game because of the big plays. Two big pick six’s, Hoskins 45 yard run, and the best player on the field in Dixon. The 95 yard Touchdown catch where Dixon juked the DB out of his shoes and from a dead stop ran off and left the safety.
The Dawg QB played terrible for three quarters but won the game in the fourth.
He led the Dawgs like a field general on the last drive.
This game reminded me of the Brownwood game in 2010.
Had me on the edge of my seat the whole game.
The Dawgs reached down deep into the gut and won this game.
Congrats to the Badgers on a great run, you were the real deal.
Let’s Go Dawgs!!!!!!!
God Bless Coaches, Players, and Fans.

I don't know if it was just me, or what..., but it "felt" like both Carthage and La Vega played a little flatter than usual. That's unusual for these well-coached teams. Who knows, I could've just been imagining things. The teams they played definitely deserved to be there and gave them fits at times, especially Lampasas.

Probably a combination of a let down after dominating Argyle like they did and looking ahead to the State Championship game...

I just watched a video over on smoaky.
Number 50 on the Lampasas Defense should be kicked off the team and not be allowed to play his senior year.
He intentionally tried to hurt or end the Carthage offensive tackle future college career.
I hope someone sends the video to the Lampasas coach.
Big T is a five star recruit and one the best in the country.
Thank goodness he did not get hurt.

He’s actually a low 4 star. But I’m guessing that point was ancillary.

LSU, Texas, and Baylor do not think he is a low 4 star.
The point was number 50 from Lampasas trying to cripple him.
I guess you missed that.

I clearly said that the 5 star point was ancillary. Sorry a post-high school level vocabulary gave you trouble.

Texas, Baylor and LSU also sign 3 and 4 stars. Not sure that offers from them clearly equate to 5 star status.

I’ve also heard there is a good chance he goes JUCO.
