Another good matchup

Series Tied at 5 a piece
Navarro 13,14,15,16,18
Wimberley 10,10,11,12,17

Top ten teams, tradition rich programs, polar opposite offenses (both capable of putting up numbers), stout physical defenses, will decide district champ, possibly a preview of the regional championship. Game of the week in 4a imo

Fun fact a similar situation happened in 2010 Navarro’s first year in 3a (now 4a). Wimbo won the district matchup and went on to beat Navarro in the regional finals as well. Here’s to Navarro retiring the favor!

This is a fun matchup! Good chance these two meet again with more on the line, too.

Just so you Wimberley Fans know we have gotten rid of the port o pots and have excellent RR's and Concessions under the bleachers. We also expanded the visitor side bleachers and have new ticket booths. Please enter by the bus yard drive on the north side of the Junior high that faces onto 123. You should see a sign that has visitor parking. This is the road that leads to tennis, softball and baseball fields. Do not enter on the home side of the stadium which is the south end. No access across as it is fenced off! Visitors sit facing the setting sun. Welcome and enjoy the game!

I haven't seen the Texans play but their record speaks for itself. They are a very strong football team, I have seen Navarro play and they are very physical, big and disciplined. They played an almost perfect game against La Grange and after playing them close for the better part of three quarters they just pulled away and buried us. That style of wear you down, no mistakes, just pounding you play after play, wins football games against good teams. I think it will be close for three quarters but the Panthers will pull ahead and close it out not looking back in the fourth. Navarro wins this one by 14.

One thing is for sure. The Panthers have yet to face a real passing team. We shall see.

You may be right about this. LG's offense is primarily a running attack but we had some success passing against the Panthers. Navarro will put a lot of pressure on the qb so getting the ball out to the receivers quickly on short routes works pretty well. Texans have the weapons to win if they play their game and keep the Panthers on their back foot.

Panthers also had 8 players out vs La Grange. 6 of those being starters, and 2 of those starters were secondary positions.

JV and Freshman tonight. Go Texans! How is the JV and Fr doing. JV seemed to have some good defensive players when I saw them in their scrimmage.

JV undefeated. Look very solid. Have not kept up with freshman. A couple of losses I believe. Lot of positives though.

Panthers by 7 (42-35).. it'll be similar to 2017 expect Navarro is going to get a big stop this go around!

Game a lot closer than final score!

That’s why having depth is important, starting QB went down and Wimbo fell apart, someone has to be able to step up

Never less your defense allowed 343 Rushing and 35 points along with a 98 yd pick 6 after holding Navarro to nothing positive in the 1st quarter. Yep the first half was close.

Looks to me like Navarro played like I thought they would. It is going to take a really physical team to contain the Panthers for 4 full quarters. It is a lot like pushing a big boulder up a slope. Things go well for awhile until you get exhausted and it rolls over you downhill. Hats off to the Panthers. I don;t think anyone in R4 will beat you this year. The Texans are still a very good football team and will go far and may well have another go at the Panthers so that would be something to look forward to.

These two by far best in R4 and will see each other again. And, score will be much closer, "if" Texan QB returns.

They met last season with Navarro winning 35-27. Next group out of R4 would be Wimberley and Rockport-Fulton. Those are the likely top 4 this year in R4 heading into playoffs.

R'ville can't carry Navarro's jock. They too far south.:tisk:

Listening to the area radio wrap up show, sounds like Wimbo turned it over in red zone 4 or 5 times. They can hang if that QB returns.

That's the crapper. So costly. There was so much butt puckering going on in Navarro land. Helped to ease the pain of how it ended. lol
