89 I too am confused, thought the "FINAL" breakdowon would not be issued until Feb 4. Anything prior to that is pure speculation and conjecture. If anyone from the UIL "leaked" breakdowns of classifications to a "friend", they should be subject to gettting their butt fired. When things are so close to call by 3 or 4 students, seems to me things could still change. Of course I hope to stay 3A, but?????????????????????

I wont believe any numbers until they are posted in February. Anything that comes out before then will just be rumor.

Actually Jason, unless our school board and UIL is lieing...that is how it works...actually thats not how it works..cutoff numbers arent used, its a scale using the number of classes (six-man through 5A) and the number of school in texas...the cutoff # just happens to be the last school in each step of the scale....read a book or something...LEARN....

FOR EXAMPLE:
there are 6 classes (6 man thru 5A)
say there are 6,000 schools in texas
the bottom 1000 enrollment schools will be 6man
the next 1000 will be 1A
the enxt 1000 will be 2A
and so on and so on

those arent exactly the right numbers but thats how they do it
they just decide how to make it as equal as possible in each classification
(there might be some exceptions for 6 man but im not sure)

At the last realignment 3A was squeezed a little bit to help narrow the disparity from the largest to the smallest. Most of the classifications had about 225-227 schools. 3A only had 207. Even squeezing the classification 3A still went from somewhere around 344-898. This is the widest disparity among all of the classifications except 1A and that is because some of the smaller schools get really, really small. By the way I checked back on some of the posts at the beginning of the month and everyone swore that Burnet turned in 946. Until Mr. UIL logs on here and posts official numbers on Feb. 4th, I will doubt anything I read.

Burnet isn't going to be near as dominant next year regardless of which classification they are in. NOBODY knows now, and will learn in February when the rest of us do.

Those were also the SAME numbers used for the 2002-2003 football/basketball/softball/volleyball/baseball/and track year. The UIL numbers are for 2 years, but I am sure you knew that bevo!

That means it took Burnet 2 years to add less than 100 kids if the numbers on this board are correct. Seems about the same as a bunch of schools did for the last realignment. Plus I saw somewhere on this board Bandera turned in a little over 900. A much bigger jump than Burnet.

But your right, Burnet will not be as dominant, because after this year, they get cycled. Their best player (mcgee and shiply and many others) who are seniors will graduate. But regardless of what happens next year. This is burnets year. But just to warn the ppl from burnet. Dont let the fact that you are the top 3a team go to your head. That was Jaspers downfall last year. But lets just focus on this year and when next year comes along...we will worry about it then. While Burnet is state bound this year, so are the Jasper Bulldogs, and we WILL fight you for it. But good luck to all the teams left and lets hope all the teams can finish the season without injury.
