The baseball program at Giddings High School was dealt a devastating blow early this (Wednesday) morning.
A fire engulfed the baseball field house, destroying much of the teams’ equipment.
Smoke was reported coming from the field house just before 6:00 this (Wednesday) morning. When firemen arrived, it was fully engulfed in flames.
No injuries reported. A full damage assessment is being conducted.
According to the Giddings Athletic Booster Club, the JV team has lost everything and the Varsity the varsity team is still assessing their damage.
Members of the Booster Club have set a Hamburger Meal Fundraiser for tomorrow (Thursday). The drive-thru meal, which can be picked up after 5:00 p.m. at the baseball field, will include a burger, chips, drink and homemade dessert..
