I think that this is going to be the first real test to see if the Texans really do belong in the playoffs. They beat La Vernia because they had beat them before but now they have to prepare for a team that they havent ever played. I havent seen RA play so i cant make a prediction, but best of luck to the Texans, and GO BIG BLUE!

I have never seen Wimberly play nor have I heard much about them. Of course, I'm pulling for my Raiders, but have no idea on what kind of game to expect. If anyone has any insight on Wimberly please let us know. Thanks.
Go Raiders!!!

Thanks. That gives me a little info. But not too familiar with any of the teams they have played with the exception of Burnet and Bandera. I guess we'll just have to wait until Saturday night. It's going to be a very long week!!

It is supposed to be played at Ricebird Stadium in El Campo Saturday at 7:30pm

At the time Burnet played Wimberly, they had been our toughest competetion. They have a good D-line, not the biggest but has a lil
' speed. Against Burnet, they didn't have much but against another team I am sure they can put up a fight. They only let us score 35 points. Their O-Line needs some work. Recievers can hold the ball and the q-back needs to look for a better avenue of throwing. I think they might have a chance.

For everyones information the score to the wimberley/Lavernia game was 22-15!

I believe Rice will be able to run the ball at will against the Texans, and will win by 20 or more....

Based on PF/PA ratios alone, the math says Rice by 12. Sounds about right to me.

Although the Texans are underdogs I would never count a team of Coach Nelms' out. His teams seem to always play up to the competition no matter how good the opposing team might be.

As much as I would like for Wimberley to have a real chance in this one, I don't think so. The Rice strength is their ground game, Wimberley's biggest weakness is their run defense. Wimberley has almost nothing to offer offensively, I don't think this one will even be remotely close. I'm not bashing our district mate Wimberley, just giving my analysis, but anyway good luck to the Texans.

Almost nothing to offer offensively? As most people don't know...Wimberley was without two or more of their key offensive starters throughout district play. Including Kothman (6'5 240lb guard!) Well...he's back and so is their offense. Just ask La Vernia. As for Rice...yes Wimberley will have their hands full stopping them, but I do think that Wimberley will have some success moving the ball. This one will be closer than most expect.

Don't count Wimberley out of this one just yet. I don't know much about Rice but can tell you that the Wimberley coaching staff has this group of boys playing way above thier talent level. They believe in themselves and expect to win. I would expect the coaching staff to have thier team prepared and ready to play and the boys will give it all they have. TEXANS 41 RICE 38

I admit that I dont know a whole lot about Wimberley. Ive seen some stats and scores but that's about it. From what I see, this team is not quite as good as the Bandera team Rice ran into this time last year. The Raiders definitely remember that game and will not be taking Wimberley lightly. This game is also going to be in El Campo which makes it about as close to a home game for the Raiders as you can get. I think the Raiders win fairly easily.

rice is a good football team i take nothing away but wimberley will be a great fight both teams have a very strong D and O i believe wimberley wants it more and will come out on top but it will be a battle of who turns the ball over more so wimberley by 3+

Good luck to both teams.
Looks like a classic, but I'll go with Rice by 7.

From what Ive seen and read, Wimberley has trouble stopping the run. Thats a bad thing if you plan on beating Rice. If Rice cant hang onto the ball like they did last week though, it wont really matter how they stop the run because we will beat ourselves.

I really feel like we should win this game but Im definitely not ever going to count out a team with a QB named Hootie.

ok I like the things that wimberley is doing now days and i really feel that this is going to be there first and true test in the playoffs thus far. As far as rice goes I hope they bring there "A" game i wasnt to impressed how they were dragging in the first half. Atleast they decided to come out and play the second. I think that if Rice wants to win it they need to come out very string and quick and get some points on the board. The same goes for wimberley I think they need to be the ones if they want to win to control the tempo of the game and get some quick scores up first. I think that if rice drags the way they did in the first half against halettsville or however you spell it. I think wimberley has the chance and it would be hard for Rice to come back from that.

Wimberley has played tough competition all year, so facing good teams isnt anything new for them, and without question they DO belong in the playoffs. This will be a good game to watch and expect wimberley to come out to play hard and physical the whole game.

Apparently Wimberly lost two coin tosses regarding site and date, and the game will end up being played the same day as the 3A Volleyball State Finals. (Wimberly should be in them). First flip was won by RC who chose El Campo Friday night. The field was found to be available Saturday, but not Friday. This conflicted with Wimberly's VB playoffs, so another flip was done which Rice again won, keeping it on Saturday @ 7:30. Don't think Wimberly is to thrilled about it....

What's up Texan59? Do you know something that the rest of us doesn't? First you posted Wimberley by 3, now you have them blowing out the Raiders 49-0. Just curious on such a drastic difference in score.

On the behalf of all the people in wimberley, I just want to apologize to everyone. Texan59 has no idea what they are talking about i mean come on they cant even spell, let alone know what they are talking about. Just dont pay attention to whatever they post. And good luck to Rice it should be a good game.

congratulations to wimberly on making it this far.
i have seen both teams play and rice consolidated have way to much speed and quickness and the best offensive line that i have seen all year that included burnett....
if rice comes out to play 48 minutes it should be a win. should be a good game because remember win or lose all of these kids are winners already.
