(CAMERON) The City of Cameron is set to host opening day activities at their premier baseball complex.

Community leaders announced they will host Opening Day at The Yards of Cameron this Saturday. The full day of events will include the HT Fitness challenge for fun and prizes, the Yoe Alumni and Futures baseball games, Kite Making and Flying with the Girls Scouts, and a Pitch/Hit/Run event for kids. A special 1st Pitch event is also scheduled. Admission for the day is FREE to all.

The Cameron Yoe High baseball team will kick off their season February 19th on the road at Waco Connally. The annual Cameron-Rogers Classic tournament will be February 28th through March 2nd. Cameron ISD partnered with Cameron Economic Development Corporation in 2014 to assist in building the $8 million facilities and to provide the Yoe baseball team with a home park. 8 million has been spent, but what's currently there is not going to help the community all that much. Cameron is centrally located between Bryan/CS, Austin and Waco. Further out Houston, San Antonio and DFW. However, right now there is simply one really nice high school field. The plans for expansion are two more all-turf baseball fields along with 3 all-turf softball fields. We are just not sure when that's exactly going to happen.
