I read somewhere Lubbock Estacado Did back in 1968 in their 1st year and won.

According to Matt, the last team to win state their first year was Beaumont west brook in 1982. Only 2 teams have ever done it. Guessing the other was Estacado like you mentioned

Correct

I think Westbrook was the result of combining 2 Beaumont schools. Also they started the year 0-5, then won 10 straight.

Not quite correct...West Brook started 0-2, then won 3 straight then lost 2 of their next 3 before the run to the title

They got a bunch of players that would have gone to Manvel....I believe only the seniors that are at Shadow Creek spent their freshman year at Manvel

West Brook was the result of a merger... Beaumont Hebert (which had recently won a title in 1976) and Beaumont Forest Park so had a full class of experienced juniors and seniors. Lubbock Estacado was the first and only school so far to win as a brand new school that wasn't a merger. They won 24 consecutive games from 1968-1969 finally losing to Brownwood in the 1969 playoffs. Hamshire-Fannett also went undefeated in their first varsity season in 1961 (12-0) BUT they weren't in a high enough classification to compete for a state title only winning a regional championship AND they were also the result of a merger.

Alvin ISD has plans for a 4th high school. Will be located right off of 288 in Iowa Colony, they hope to have it open by 2022.

I don’t really understand why it’s called Alvin Shadow Creek... it’s really not even close to Alvin.

Don’t think the new HS will affect success of shadow creek either

Google says it’s a school in Pearland, TX, and the address listed on the school website is Rosharon, TX. It’s an interesting mix of communities....Manvel, Alvin, Pearland, Rosharon...

It's called Alvin Shadow Creek because it's in Alvin ISD

It's within the Alvin ISD attendance zone. Have to think back or imagine to a time before the area was developed and was rural. Kids in that rural area were zone to Alvin ISD. I believe the schools physical address is in Pearland.

Probably because one is a school named after it's community and the other is just a school name.

And I can't really call it "Pearland Shadow Creek" because that would really confuse folks

If they win, they may have heck of a time deciding which water tower to paint and where to put the "City of Champions" signs. May not get resolved before the start of 7 on 7.

Yeah, I get that but there’s lots of examples where that’s not the case. I just don’t get the point of tacking on the district name I guess

At the statewide level it gives others a quick geographic indicator on the location of the school..Houston folks probably just say Shadow Creek....but outside of Houston is different....same in most other locales..locally its just school name..but at the playoff and state level you add city or ISD name

Good point sometimes there really isn't a rhyme or reason. Sort of like Sachse and Rowlett are Garland ISD but not called Garland Rowlett or Garland Sachse. La Vega is in Bellmead but is called Waco La Vega.

Isn't Clear Brook actually in Friendswood but part of League City ISD?

Maybe after time Alvin will be dropped once Shadow Creek has been opened a while. I remember when I was younger and the Woodlands was often referred to as Conroe The Woodlands.

Off Topic but- I am old enough to remember that at one time The Woodlands High School was known as McCollough.

From 1976 until the opening of The Woodlands High School in 1996, McCullough High School served The Woodlands' community. McCullough High School, named after J.L. McCullough, also housed seventh and eighth graders until Knox Junior High opened its doors in 1978. When The Woodlands High School opened on August 12, 1996, McCullough served The Woodlands community as a junior high school. From 2000 to 2005, McCullough was known as The Woodlands High School: McCullough Campus, housing freshmen and sophomores. Since 2005, with the opening of The Woodlands College Park High School, McCullough has once again served the community as a junior high school

Shadow Creek’s HC Brad Butler played under Highland Park’s Randy Allen at Brownwood in the late 80’s. Very cool that they are squaring off against one another for the State Championship. And with Shadow Creek being a new school vs Highland Park being one of the most storied HS football programs, creates a unique story. Old vs New so to speak. Good stuff
